Pure niceness. Another instant classic from MosDef, Talib Kweli and Hi Tek. In some ways it's hard to describe what sets the MosDef and Kweli material at least two steps above most current undergrround hip hop. Definition makes good use of BDP's chorus (and some samples) from "Stop the Violence." On "Twice Inna Lifetime" they're joined by Jane Doe, Wordsworth and Punchline. 12-inch, Vinyl record
MosDef and Diverse are joined by the genre pounding, beat twisting, influential producer Prefuse 73 to churn out another memorable song from the "Urban Renewal" compilation on Chocolate Industries. The B-Side is a remix by Def Jux heavy hitter RJD2. 12-inch, Vinyl record
A couple of great remixes of Jill Scott's wonderful "Love Rain" track with MosDef, one of the best soul hits of recent years! They titles say a lot; the head nod mix is just that, with a pounding bass line and Mos's guest turn cranked up in the mix. The coffee shop mix turns down the bass just a bit, and cranks the jazzy keys, putting a strong emphasis on Jill's excellent scatty delivery. 12-inch, Vinyl record
LL has always been just about the most reliable practitioner of the hip hop slow jam, and this classic from the tail end of the 80s/early dawn of the 90s is about as endearing as they get! The track gets a number reworked moods in the remixes. The Untouchable remix speeds the tempo to the "up" side, but holds LL's vocals to the same, amusingly overconfident appeal. The new bass mix add's a rubbery, G Funk affect, and the jazzy mix would be more appropriately dubbed the clubby mix – since it builds the beats into a straight up, dancefloor synth groove! 12-inch, Vinyl record
