✨✧ TomorrowTomorrow (plus bonus tracks) ... CD
EMI (UK), 1968. Used ... Out Of Stock
Early British psych from Tomorrow – groovy, trippy stuff with some inventive guitar playing and production, some great harmonies and catchy melodies that put them on par with some of the better remembered acts in the early years of British psychedelia! The group features Keith West, Steve Howe (years before Yes), John "Twink" Alder (who would go on to The Pretty Things and The Pink Fairies). Produced by Mark Wirtz, who also handles the keyboards on the album. Tracks include "My White Bicycle", "Colonel Brown", "Real Life Permanent Dream", Revolution", "Three Jolly Dwarfs", "Hallucinations" and more. CD

✨✧ VariousClimb Aboard My Roundabout – The British Toytown Pop Sound 1967 to 1974 (3CD set) ... CD
Grapefruit (UK), Late 1960s/Early 1970s. Used 3 CDs ... Out Of Stock
Don't know "toytown"? We didn't know the reference either, until we heard this totally wonderful set – and it turns out that the word is a great way to describe a unique moment in British music – one that mixes together whimsical psych, playful pop, and a whole host of groovy moments from artists familiar and obscure – woven together here in a massive collection that's filled with stunning surprises all the way through! The initial impulse is to collect cuts that have a slight nostalgia for childhood and innocence – but as with so much British music of the time, that also means that there's plenty of dark currents and spooky surprises along the way – a not-so-innocent quality in many tracks that really keeps things interesting and on edge all the way through! Yet rather than describe the music to death, we just invite you to dive in and swim through the 87 wonderful tracks in the package – work by a variety of artists that includes David Bowie, Timon, Astronaut Alan & the Planets, Idle Race, Wimple Winch, World Of Oz, The Herd, Fire, Jason Quest, Mark Wirtz, The Tots, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Good Time Losers, The Syn, Majority One, Clifford T Ward, Fire, Jigsaw, Kenny Everett, Simon Dupree, Tomorrow, David Matthews, The Riot Squad, Keith West, and a huge amount of other great acts too – all presented in full detail with the great booklet of notes that comes with the package. ✨✧ VariousEddie Piller Presents British Mod Sounds Of The 60s Vol 2 – The Freakbeat & Psych Years (4CD set) ... CD
Demon (UK), Late 60s. New Copy 4CD ... Out Of Stock
The great second chapter of the UK mode scene in the 60s – and a batch of work that's even headier than the first – not really mod at all, but instead a lot more psych-styled, and taking off into the farther reaches of British styles of the time! Eddie Piller put the whole thing together with as much care as the initial volume – right down to the notes in the cool book-styled package, and the very well-chosen array of 98 rare cuts within. Things get nice and weird and wiggy at points – as the groups here may have started with more R&B-styled inspiration, but are starting to trip out a bit more as the psych years move in – making for some really cool combinations of sounds that keep things interesting throughout! The whole thing's overflowing with greatness – work from artists who include The Fire, July, The Montanas, Californians, Ossie Layne Show, Locomotive, Timebox, Jason Crest, Terry Reid, Scott Walker, Blonde On Blonde, Collosseum, Satisfaction, Nucleus, Nirvana, Mark Wirtz, The Attack, Gods, Alex Harvey, The Creation, Ice, Rupert's People, Idle Race, Plastic Penny, Wimple Witch, Poets, Sorrows, and dozens of others.
