In the tradition of the Molemen and All Natural, another nice one from the Chicago underground. "Think U Jammin'?" uses a killer organ bassline and DJ Diamond Kut cutting up a line from Steady Serv's classic "You Know The Time" for the chorus, and of course straight up dope hip hop verses. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover has some edge wear and is lightly bent at the bottom left corner.)
Sheila E's Prince-influenced hit, with a Part II on the flip that basically finds the band jamming on the groove for a bit longer. . . 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover has light wear.)

Nicola Conte/Gerardo Frisina —
Nefertiti/Gica's Dance ... 12-inch Schema (Italy), 2004. Near Mint- (pic cover)...
Temporarily Out Of Stock
2 wicked Latin jazz jammers – both issued here for the first time on vinyl! Nicola Conte's beautiful groover "Nefertiti" may well be one of the best things he ever recorded – a midtempo Latinish number that builds on snapping drums, warm bass, and sweet wordless vocals – drifting into the mix right before the tune's core instrumentation of vibes, piano, and horns kick in! "Gica's Dance" is an equally well-done track – again with more great vibes and percussion – created by Gerardo Frisina in a style that's very similar to that of Conte's. Both tracks only ever appeared on the Freedom Jazz Dance CD – and make for a fantastic single back to back! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Seminal work from Liquid Liquid – one of the coolest, funkiest groups on the New York scene at the start of the 80s! The approach here is a blistering blend of different percussion modes – from batucada jamming to funky drums – all tied together with these basslines that really make the whole thing vibrated with a massive sound! The music's a bit in the spirit of ESG – who also recorded for the same label at the time – but is also a lot more adventurous, and played with even more tightness too. Titles include the wicked cut "Cavern", which was the massive sample for the classic hip hop track "White Lines" – and other titles include "Scraper", "Optimo", and "Out". 12-inch, Vinyl record
(2015 reissue on Superior Viaduct.)

Brass Construction/Banbarra —
Movin/Shack Up ... 12-inch Soul Brother/Expansion (UK), 1975. Near Mint- ...
Out Of Stock
2 excellent bits of rare funk – back to back! "Movin" is the more popular number here – a horn-heavy dancefloor jammer from Brass Construction, with great interplay between horns, moog, and keyboards, stretching out for a full 8 minute track! "Shack Up" is even better – and begins with scratchy guitars, vamping basslines, and a monster groove that will never let you down. The cut's one of the oddest funk classics ever, was never issued on an album, and will keep you jamming all night long! 12-inch, Vinyl record
One of those obscure split 12" singles from the early days – when labels clearly thought nobody would pay full price for a large single that only included one band! This one features a tight extended funk cut from Poison – a fast jamming number with some funky keyboards, a bit of moog, plenty of wah wah, and the usual breakdown in the middle! "You've Got The Power", on the flip and by Camouflage, is not nearly as nice – and is kind of a silly disco number without much going on until the breakdown, which finally adds in some strong elements, like funky bass, echoey piano, and conga beats. 12-inch, Vinyl record
