InfinityKeep It To Yourself/Get On The Case ... 7-inch
Fountain, 1969. Very Good ... $11.99
"Keep It To Yourself" is a fantastic fantastic fantastic soul track, and probably the greatest cut ever to come from the pen of Billy Butler. Billy performs it here with his group Infinity, and the track rivals anything his brother Jerry ever did. It's got a sweet sad ballad feel, and some amazing arrangements, courtesy of Vince Willis. Very nice, and we don't believe it's on his LP with the group. Plus, the flip's a nice uptempo progressive soul cut, with good vocals. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Labels have a spot of pen.)

✨✧ Billy Butler & InfinityI Don't Want To Loose You/Free Yourself ... 7-inch
Memphis, Early 70s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A great one from this lost Chicago group! "I Don't Want To Loose You" is an excellent harmony soul cut – with deep harmonies that descend nicely on the chorus, and send a real chill down our spine! "Free Yourself" is a rolling heavy soul number, with a political message, and a nice bass-heavy groove! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Souls Of Mischief93 'Til Infinity (2LP pressing) ... LP
Hiero Imperium/Traffic, 1993. Near Mint- 2LP ... $49.99
A record that may have the year 1993 permanently locked into its title – but a set that's got more than enough strength to survive strongly over the decades – the first great statement from Cali giants Souls Of Mischief, and a record that would set the tone for the Hiero Imperium scene for years to come! The set's filled with jazz inspired, headnodding boom bap production at its finest – topped with some of the finest ensemble rapping of the time, all at a level that breaks new lyrical boundaries with cuts that include "That's When Ya Lost", "Let Em Know", "Live & Let Live", "Make Your Mind Up", "A Name I Call Myself", "Disseshowedo", "What A Way To Go Out", "Never No More", "93 Til Infinity", "Limitations", "Anything Can Happen", "Make Your Mind Up", "Batting Practice", and "Tell Me Who Profits". LP, Vinyl record album
(Blue translucent vinyl pressing. Cover has a tiny center split on the top seam, but looks fantastic overall.)

✨✧ Sonny FortuneInfinity Is ... LP
Atlantic, 1978. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A beautiful set from Sonny Fortune – a bit smoother than some of his earlier work, but still with a deeply soulful finish that keeps the album fresh throughout! Nearly every track was written (or co-written) by Larry Willis, who plays piano and Fender Rhodes on the set, and really feels like Sonny's co-leader on the session – and who gives the album a hiply swinging feel that's similar to his own work at the time. Titles include "Samba Touch", "Perihelion", "This Side Of Infinity", "Turning It Over", and "The Blues Are Green". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Shelly ManneMannekind ... LP
Mainstream, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
An incredible album – unlike anything else that Shelly Manne recorded! The record features Shelly getting all dope and mellow, sliding around on the kit in a kickback set of complex drum fills and percussion effects – with lots of unusual rhythms you never would have heard on his classic cool jazz recordings! In addition to drums, Shelly plays berimbau, waterphone, cuica, and superballs on cymbals (?!) – and the rest of the group includes John Morrell on guitar and Mike Wofford on piano, as well as Brian Moffatt on a host of odd percussion instruments – which further creates some great elements to the set. "Infinity" is the impossible to find loop behind Jeru's "Come Clean" – and the whole album is equally good, with other titles that include "Seance", "Scavenger", "Mask", and "Pink Pearl". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing! Cover has light aging on the opening edge, and a tiny bumped corner – but vinyl is great!)

Varese, 1979. Sealed ... Out Of Stock
Totally excellent soundtrack to this late 70s horror film filled with spooky arpeggios, ominous drones and loads of atmospheric tones. Like many outher soundtracks of the time, this consists of a main theme that keeps cropping up in different formats. Fortunately, it's a great one! Tracks include "Intro & Main Title", "Welcome To Morningside/Hand IN Box", "Mineshaft Chase", "Phantasmagoria/Silver Sphere Disco", "Hearse Inferno", "Spacegate To Infinity", "Cemetery Spectres", "Phantasm Atmosphere", "Jody At Morningside/Just A Dream?", "Overturned Ice Cream Truck" and "End Of The Game". ✨✧ Sun RaLive at Montreux ... LP
Inner City, 1976. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
One of Sun Ra's best non-Saturn live sets of the 70s – a nice little record that shows the group mixing it up with equal parts avant garde and straight ahead jazz, all handled in that ever-growing large group style that made them a real force to be reckoned with in a concert setting! The album was recorded during the 1976 Montreux Jazz Festival, and has a bit more focus and polish than some of the other Arkestra live material from the time – a mature, coherent sound that almost points the way towards some of their work to come in the 80s – when Ra and the group were finally reaching the wider audience they deserved. The set's a double-length one, and features players who include John Gilmore on tenor, Marshall Allen and Danny Davis on alto and flute, Pat Patrick on baritone, Ahmed Abdullah on trumpet, Craig Harris on trombone, and James Jackson on Ancient Egyptian Infinity drum – which is always a treat. Ra plays solar organ and moog, as well as piano – and titles include "Of The Other Tomorrow", "On Sound Infinity Spheres", "El Is The Sound Of Joy", "Gods Of The Thunder Realm", "Gods Of A Thunder Realm", "The House Of Eternal Being", and "Lights On a Satellite". LP, Vinyl record album
(Recent reissue.)

✨✧ Al CohnProgressive Al Cohn ... LP
Savoy, 1950/1953. Sealed ... Out Of Stock
Nice nice early work from Al – of the sort you can't always find that easily on reissue! The set's a very well put together album that brings together titles from 2 early sets on Savoy. 4 tracks are from a 1950 set with a quartet that includes George Wallington, on the tracks "Infinity", "Groovin With Gus", and "Let's Get Away With It All". The other 5 cuts are from 1953 – from a quintet set with Nick Travis on trumpet, Horace Silver on piano, Curley Russell on bass, and Max Roach on drums. Titles on that one include "Ah-Moore", "I'm Tellin Ya", and "Jane Street" – and Cohn is really in best form on those sides! LP, Vinyl record album
