ResidentsNot Available ... LP
Ralph, 1978. Near Mint- ... $29.99
Always-enigmatic sounds from The Residents – a bit more fully-formed than some of their earliest recordings, but still sprawled out nicely over the space of the full album! There's almost an Eraserhead feel to the music at times – dreamy, yet creepy – and other moments bring in some avant jazz tones, yet played without any jazz chops at all – more as sonic textures that nestle down nicely in the mix of noise and surprising melodic moments. Titles include "Edweena", "The Making Of A Soul", and "Ship's A Going Down". LP, Vinyl record album
(Orange label pressing. Cover has a small manufacturing bump in front and is bent a bit at the top right corner.)

✨✧ MagmaKohntarkosz ... LP
A&M, 1974. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A set of extended tracks from French powerhouse Magma, but one that burns with intensity throughout – thanks not just to the killer drum work of group members Christian Vander on drums and Jannink Top on bass (with both on keyboards as well) – but also to the presence of legendary guitarist Brian Godding, whose sounds on the album really set the whole thing on fire! Magma already had a great keyboard and drum groove going on with previous records – but the presence of Godding here really sends things over the top – as, again, the group show that their instrumentation can deliver far more than their vocals – on extended titles that include "Kohntarkosz", "Ork Alarm", and "Coltrane Sundia". ✨✧ CrampsSmell Of Female ... LP
Enigma, 1983. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Sleazy, greasy early 80s trash rock from the one-and-only Cramps – live at New York's Peppermint Lounge! Includes Cramps classics "You Got Good Taste", "I Ain't Nothin But A Gorehound", "Beautiful Gardens" and more, plus that vicious Cramps take on "She Said" by hillbilly trash rock progenitor Hasil Adkins, "Faster Pussycat" and more. Lux sounds lucid as he ever does one second and like he's about the choke death seconds later, which is The Cramps personified, right? LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Busta JonesBusta Jones! ... LP
Spring, 1979/1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
This album seems to have been recorded between 1979 and 1980 in Boston, New York and at Sigma Sound in Philadelphia. Bass player and vocalist Busta Jones gives us a batch of songs that incorporate a lot of the early 80s pop sound – some robot/space sounds, some danceable numbers and one definite disco-y tune. Side two seems to have more to offer – some solid good pop songs. Jones wrote most of the songs and he does a good version of Stevie Wonder's "Just A Little Misunderstanding". Other tracks include "Superstar", "Impulse Reaction", "I Put A Rush On You", "Everybody's Dancing All Over The World", and "You Keep Making Me Hot". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Wim MertensMan Of No Fortune & With A Name To Come ... LP
Disques Du Crepuscule (Netherlands), 1986. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
One of the best albums ever from the enigmatic pianist Wim Mertens – a key solo set after leaving Soft Verdict! This album features the Belgian pianist/composer in a dreamy set of solo works – playing piano and singing along in an eerie wordless style that sounds a bit goofy, but which we still find pretty captivating. Hey, what do we know? We used to see this guy open for punk shows – not at symphony hall! Titles include "Casting No Shadow", "Naviamente", "Hirose", and "You See". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Lloyd MillerNear & Far East ... LP
East West, 1966. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
One of the most evocative albums ever recorded by the enigmatic Lloyd Miller – a set created at Brigham Young University, in Utah – but filled with a mix of different styles from the other half of the planet! Miller plays a variety of stringed instruments and percussion – including some great xylophone, shamisen, tabla, and santur – and is joined by flutes and recorders, tar, ching, and vocals from two different female singers – both used sparingly, in ways that barely get in the way of the instrumentation! There's less jazz here than some of Miller's later projects – and the record's got a vibe that almost makes it feel like some classic Ocora recording of sounds from Japan, China, Viet Nam, India, and other points east. Titles include "Hakimi", "Co La", "Luu Thuy", "Sakura", "Karpagame", "Seh Gah", and "Amen Avci Vurma Beni". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Radio CitizenBerlin Serengeti ... LP
Ubiquity, 2006. Near Mint- 2LP ... Out Of Stock
The first full length set from Radio Citizen – shifting his name a bit since his first EP for Ubiquity, and coming off here with an even deeper sound! The groove here is somewhat the same as that great debut – a mix of downtempo beats, jazzy flourishes, and some surprising soul vocals from the enigmatic Bajka – who sings on 6 of the album's tracks! Instrumental numbers often mix warmer sounds on acoustic bass, Fender Rhodes, or other instruments – in a way that hits a jazzier groove on the best numbers, almost in a Schema mode at times. Yet we've gotta say that the vocal cuts really stand out the most – and Bajka's enigmatic singing graces the tunes "The Hop", "El Cielo", "Everything", "Voices", "Championsound", and "Nightingale". Gaelle sings on the track "Dust", and other tunes include "Night (parts 1 & 2)", "Love Serenity Blues", "Mondlicht", "The Prophets", and "Roads". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Jane PowellCan't We Be Friends? ... LP
Verve, 1956. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
A rare vocal session from Jane Powell – a singer better known for her film performances, but who sounds pretty darn great here on an obscure 50s studio session for Verve! Jane's got a higher-voiced style than most of the other singers on Verve, but she's brought down to earth nicely by arranger Buddy Bregman – who manages to keep things jazzy and swinging, but also creates some of the loftier modes from her film work – some lush moments that really come through on the mellower tracks. Titles include "My Baby Just Cares For Me", "Comes Love", "In Love In Vain", "Can't We Be Friends", "Imagination", and "Ev'ry Time". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono black label Verve Records Inc pressing with deep groove. Cover has some wear and aging, with a peeled spot from sticker removal and small address label in back.)

Spinners8 ... LP
Atlantic, 1977. Very Good+ ... $3.99
Eight Atlantic albums, and The Spinners are still going strong – sounding really wonderful here, thanks to Philly backings from the great Thom Bell! The album's not filled with hits, but that's a big part of its charm – as the group still sounds great, with smoother than smooth vocals – and the tunes move nicely between the soaring style the group discovered in Philly, and some of the mellower moments we've grown to like even more in their work over the years. Most players are Sigma Sound regulars, and titles include "I'm Tired Of Giving", "You Got The Love That I Need", "Painted Magic", "Easy Come Easy Go", "Love Is One Step Away", "Back In The Arms Of Love", and "Heaven On Earth". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes printed inner sleeve. Cover has a cutout notch and light wear.)

✨✧ Full Moon EnsembleCrowded With Loneliness ... LP
CBS (France), 1970. Sealed ... Out Of Stock
A rare spiritual jazz session from the Full Moon Ensemble – a very groovy French group headed up by drummer Claude Delcloo – who was better known for his avant jazz work on sides for the BYG/Actuel series of albums! This time around, Delcloo is working in much trippier territory – a style that still shows some of the freedoms of the post-68 generation of French jazz, but which also takes on some strong spiritual tones too – mixing spoken passages with rich organic sounds on percussion – and these bold, snaking lines on Fender Rhodes and guitar that really help hold the whole thing together! The record works as one long suite on side one, and continues that groove on side two – and although the band's jamming great in the studio, there's still a sense of structure and purpose that really drives the music. In addition to Delcloo on drums, the group also features Jeff Sicard on alto and tenor, Gerard Coppere on tenor and soprano sax, Mratine Tourreil on Rhodes, and Joseph Dejean on guitar – and the vocals bits are by the enigmatic "Sarah". Titles include the side a suite "Tribute To Bob Kaufman" – plus "101 W 85th Street" and "King Kong". LP, Vinyl record album
(Heavy Superfly label pressing – a great copy!)

✨✧ Brian Eno/Harold BuddAmbient 2 – Plateaux Of Mirror ... LP
EG, 1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Brian Eno's second installment in the Ambient series – a set of recordings done in collaboration with Harold Budd – who'd almost go on to carry the torch for this style more than Eno! The tracks are as spare and atmospheric as the previous Ambient album – but are also almost a bit warmer too – filled with some of the slightly more melodic moments we love in Budd's work, and almost a precursor to the darker soundscapes of the 4AD generation. There's a subtle sense of poetry here that's really beautiful – and titles include "Steal Away", "First Light", "Failing Light", "Wind In Lonely Fences", "The Chill Air", "Not Yet Remembered", and "Above Chiangmai". LP, Vinyl record album
