✨✧ Eddie HarrisExodus To Jazz ... LP
Vee Jay, 1961. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
One of the true hit jazz albums of the 60s, and a record that's still pretty darn incredible today! Who'd have thought that a jazz recording of the theme to the film "Exodus" could have been such a hit? It was, and the way Eddie handled it forever transformed the face of jazz. Eddie was nicely poised between the harder soul jazz camps and the freer spiritual jazz underground that was operating in Chicago and Detroit in the 60s – and with his unique combo that had Joe Dorio on guitar, he transformed the song into a great groove that matched the other excellent material that he was laying down at the time. This record's a gem, which is often rare for such a jazz "hit" – and it includes loads of great tracks like "AM Blues", "Velocity", "Alicia", and "ATC". LP, Vinyl record album
(Rainbow label pressing with deep groove and Bell Sound stamp.)

Rudy Ray MooreDolemite For President ... LP
Kent, 1972. Near Mint- ... $29.99
Rudy Ray Moore takes the White House – or at least tries to – in this cool 1972 album that must have been a great antidote to the campaigns of Richard Nixon and George McGovern! The set starts with Rudy running his way through a whole bunch of campaign issues – including "Free Love" and "Mary Wanna" – all delivered in faux politico mode, with a crowd cheering him on, and an introduction that features music from "Exodus"! The rest of the set is a bit more typical Dolemite material – almost even more raunchy than the presidential mode – and other titles include "Dance Of The Freaks", "Bulldaggers", "Good Pussy Lil", and "Sit In Your Mama's Lap". Language is raw – so be warned! LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing.)

✨✧ OriginalsDefinitions ... LP
SOUL, 1972. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
What a great record! This one seems to be nothing fancy at the outset – mostly covers of soul and pop tunes, done by The Originals in an early 70s harmony soul mode – but the overall quality of the record is incredible, with a mixture of rough and sweet vocals that sends just about every tune over the top, more in an east coast indie mode than most of the other group work on Motown at the time. Arrangements are by Willie Shorter, Paul Riser, and HB Barnum – but it's the vocals that will floor you, on tracks that include "The Exodus Song", "The Rovin Kind", "Love Is Life", "I've Got A Need For You", "Make It With You", "Come Rain Or Come Shine", and "Lie No 2". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear & aging, cutout notch. Includes Motown inner sleeve.)

✨✧ Eric DolphyEric Dolphy Memorial Album (aka Music Matador) ... LP
Vee Jay, Early 60s. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
Amazing work from Eric Dolphy – a record that's come out on a number of different labels, under a number of different names – but which is one of his most perfectly-realized sessions of the 60s, and one of his most spiritual albums ever! The record features a shifting lineup of players – almost presaging the ensemble modes that would rise more strongly in the post-Coltrane years – and Dolphy's chosen a strong group of associates, including Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Woody Shaw on trumpet, Clifford Jordan on soprano sax, Prince Lasha on flute, and Sonny Simmons on alto and bass clarinet. Dolphy plays flute, alto, and bass clarinet – and titles include "Love Me", a solo alto tune by Dolphy; "Alone Together", a duet with Davis' bass; a seminal take on "Jitterbug Waltz", completely reinventing the tune for new generations; and the massive "Music Matador". LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo blue label Exodus pressing.)

✨✧ Eddie HarrisEddie Harris Goes To The Movies ... LP
Vee Jay, 1962. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Forget the title – which sounds like a bit of a gimmick – as this is a fine fine Eddie Harris album! After the success that Vee Jay had with Eddie Harris' huge hit version of "Exodus", they cut this album of Eddie playing movie themes – like "Green Dolphin Street", "Laura", "Moonglow", and "Secret Love", plus a few standards like "These Foolish Things", and "The More I See You". Dick Marx handled the arrangements – and the overall sound is slicker than Eddie's "Exodus", as his solos are laid out over larger string arrangements by Dick Marx, but it's not without some charms – especially because Eddie's tone at this point is amazing, filled with little tricks and turns that make just about anything he plays sound great! LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono rainbow label pressing with bracket logo. Cover has some ringwear, heavy edge wear, split at the top half of the spine, and a Stereo sticker.)

✨✧ Bob Marley & The WailersBabylon By Bus ... LP
Island, 1978. Near Mint- 2LP ... Out Of Stock
A classic double live album from Bob Marley & The Wailers – presented and packaged at a level that's really a cut above the usual set of that nature from the time! The group's in excellent form in a concert setting – and there's more than enough magic here to warrant the extended length of the set – as Marley and the group really open up on some classics, as well as some other gems that maybe even sparkle more on this album. Titles include "Exodus", "Stir It Up", "Rat Race", "Concrete Jungle", "Lively Up Yourself", "Is This Love", "Punky Reggae Party", "Heathen", "Jamming", and "Kinky Reggae". LP, Vinyl record album
(Blue label pressing in the die-cut cover, with printed inner sleeves and poster! Cover has a promo stamp, bumped corners, and a light fray at the right edge of the "window" on the right.)

Capitol, Mid 60s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
One of those unusual chapters in the career of David Axelrod at Capitol Records – a set that has him taking on the production helm for David Rose – an earlier instrumental talent who sounds nicely moody here in the hands of Axe! Titles include themes from "Exodus", "Ben-Hur", "The Bible", "Ten Commandments", "Greatest Story Ever Told", and "Spartacus Love Theme". LP, Vinyl record album
