An excellent album from Eric Kloss – maybe one of his last good ones, too! The record has him playing with a hip group of young players – basically the Miles Davis rhythm section (Chick Corea, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette) plus guitarist Pat Martino, who was really stretching out at this time. The resultant electric grooves are way different than Kloss' earlier work, yet still much tighter and more soulful than his later stuff – with some slight bits of funk and soul jazz to keep things real. All tracks are fairly long, and the record features versions of "Sunshine Superman" and "Songs To Aging Children" – plus the tunes "Consciousness" and "Outward Wisdom". LP, Vinyl record album

Really wonderful work from the young Eric Kloss – recorded at a time when the alto player was just coming off some more soul jazz-styled work, and really starting to stretch out in his sound! The group here is full of key young contemporaries – Jimmy Owens on trumpet and Kenny Barron on piano, given superb rhythm accompaniment by Bob Cranshaw on bass and Alan Dawson on drums! The first album by Eddie Daniels – and loads better than most of his later work! About half the tracks feature Daniels playing clarinet, which is OK – but the best ones have him on tenor, working away in a lyrical modal mode that's really great. The rhythm's by a trio that includes Roland Hanna, Richard Davis, and Mel Lewis – and the album has that oddball soul jazz sound you'll find on other Prestige titles at the time by players like Jaki Byard or Eric Kloss. One of Eddie's last great records, and a smoking live set that has him singing with a group that includes Eric Kloss and Richie Cole on alto saxes – and Mickey Tucker playing some sweet electric piano.
