A fantastic track that mixed earlier east coast vocal soul with the burgeoning club/disco scene in Philly – not only a great piece of work in the harmony soul style of the 70s, but a massive dancefloor number served up by the godlike Norman Harris! 12-inch, Vinyl record
A totally excellent midtempo modern soul groover from Lenny Williams, popping along on smooth groove clearly aimed at the dancefloor, but filled out nicely with sophisticated production! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label pressing in a ABC Disco sleeve, with a promo stamp.)
The title track of one of the few albums cut by this Chicago dancefloor trio – done in a skipping clubby mode that's not entirely disco, not entirely soul. The track's playful enough to live up to the title – kind of a jaunty groover with nice back/forth action. 12-inch, Vinyl record
A great tune from First Choice – a bit slower than some of their other disco hits, with a building soulful quality that's really great, and which includes a strong hook in the title phrase, one that really makes the song bubble! The b-side is a slightly longer mix by Bobby DJ Guttadaro. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo in a Giant Single sleeve, with a round sticker.)
Massive stuff – and one of the greatest tracks ever recorded by Al Hudson! "Spread Love" has a full burning spiritual sort of groove – with a long intro that keeps on coming, and some great moogy bits that soar towards the heavens with the strings before the vocals come into play! David Van DePitte arranged the whole thing to perfection! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo in an ABC Disco sleeve with promo stamp.)
One of the best Bunny Sigler dancefloor tunes ever – a captivating, floor-storming number with a really propulsive groove! The track jumps along on some sweet Instant Funk backing – with just enough funky guitar riffing and warm keyboard lines to keep things soulful – and even Bunny's high vocals manage to come out just right for the tune! 12-inch, Vinyl record
A great remake of the original Ruby Andrews hit – done by a later Chicago soul group with a sweetly gliding feel! Coffee take their post-Lovelites sound and wrap it around a nice 80s club rhythm here – a mode that's a bit Philly at times, but also has some lush production that gives the track a nice Chicago glide! 12-inch, Vinyl record
The follow up to "The Message", and another classic early 80s number from Grandmaster Flash and crew. Once again, the theme is the trials of city life, and once again, they come up with another winning message cut. 12-inch, Vinyl record
A fantastic 500th release by the BBE label – one that looks back at the past, and soars to the future! This special extended single package is a fantastic return to form for everyone involved – as underground club legends Patrick Adams and Leroy Burgess get a whole new groove from Louie Vega – but with a warmly soaring vibe that's a great update of their classic approach! "Barely Breaking Even" is a classic from the Universal Robot Band – but this new take has both vocals and production that are a lot warmer than the original P&P Records version – and a groove that's even catchier too! All four mixes are over eight minutes long – served up here beautifully on a double 12" package! 12-inch, Vinyl record
"Thief's Theme" is the first single from the Street Disciple double album, one that's actually a hidden track on the LP. We never would have guessed that a sample of the riff "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" would sound so good, but here it is! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover has promo and hype stickers.)
