King CrimsonDiscipline ... LP
Warner, 1981. Sealed ... $43.99
One of those killer records from that 80s moment when Robert Fripp rebooted King Crimson with a lean lineup that had a really fantastic sound – with more guitars and vocals from Adrian Belew, a younger player who really had the same ear as Fripp for unusual sounds from guitars – alongside Tony Levin on bass and Chapman stick, and the great Bill Bruford on drums! Titles include "Elephant Talk", "Frame By Frame", "Thela Hun Ginjeet", and "The Sheltering Sky". LP, Vinyl record album
(Sealed 80s pressing!)

✨✧ King CrimsonLizard ... LP
Atlantic, 1970. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A record that we love almost as much for the words by Pete Sinfield, vocals by Gordon Haskell, and reeds by Mel Collins – as we do for the work of leader Robert Fripp on guitar! LP, Vinyl record album
(Original 1841 Broadway label pressing. NOTE – the bottom 2 inches of the cover has light staining, waviness and wear – but less visible on the front!)

✨✧ King CrimsonIn The Court Of The Crimson King ... LP
Atlantic, 1969. Very Good- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
An album so heavy, it blew plenty of minds when first released at the end of the 60s! This set's the first-ever utterance from the King Crimson empire – the initial outing of the group, which featured Greg Lake on vocals, and lots of airy, darkly atmospheric guitar from the legendary Robert Fripp! The song structure is quite unusual – and the overall feel is less academically tangled than some of the later records – a feature that makes this album much more sought out by mainstream rockers looking for an intro to the group than some of the later sets. Yet having said that, there's also a pretty amazing approach here – somewhat obtuse, and definitely not looking for any radio edit hits – more just magical musings from a very unique ensemble. Peter Sinfield contributed the lyrics, which are sung by Lake – and Michael Giles handles drums and percussion, while Ian MacDonald plays flute, sax, keyboards, and more. Titles include "Moonchild", "21st Century Schizoid Man", "I Talk To The Wind", "Epitaph", and "Court Of The Crimson King". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ King CrimsonIn The Wake Of Poseidon ... LP
Atlantic, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A wonderful second record from King Crimson – a set that follows in the same territory as the debut – with Greg Lake on vocals and Robert Fripp on guitar and devices – alongside Michael Giles on drums and Peter Giles on bass. There's some great jazzy touches at times – saxes and flute from Mel Collins and piano from Keith Tippet – and Peter Sinfield wrote the lyrics for Fripp's music – and Gordon Haskell sings a bit too. ✨✧ Tommy James & the ShondellsCrimson & Clover ... LP
Roulette, 1968. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A sublime pop psych classic from Tommy James & The Shondells – a record that's quite different than some of the janglier work the group was issuing a few years before – and a perfect example of the way that just a few slight studio tricks can really transform a record! The tunes are all short and focused, but produced with lots of cool reverb, echo, and fuzzy touches on the sides – never overindulgent, and still plenty tuneful – but with so many weird little edges that they come through with a sound that's still pretty darn fresh after all these years – even if you think you know these guys from their hits. Titles include "Kathleen McArthur", "Do Something To Me", "I Am A Tangerine", "Smokey Roads", and "Breakaway" – plus the classic hits "Sugar On Sunday", "Crystal Blue Persuasion", and "Crimson & Clover". LP, Vinyl record album
(Orange label stereo pressing with Bell Sound stamp.)

✨✧ Soul SurvivorsExpressway To Your Heart/Hey Gyp ... 7-inch
Crimson, 1967. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Blue eyed soul doesn't get any better than this! "Expressway" is one of those tunes that you've heard a gazillion times – but it's still an amazing soul song, and hearing this original 45 is like cracking open a fresh new version. "Hey Gyp" has a bit more of a garagey feel – but it's still got wonderful vocals and a great hook, and works well as a mod crossover number that would fit perfectly next to The Shadows Of Knight. 7-inch, Vinyl record

Alexis Korner & SnapeAccidentally Borne In New Orleans ... LP
Warner, 1973. Near Mint- ... $11.99 14.99
A record that really has Alexis Korner stretching out from the straighter blues of his 60s material – using his fantastic style on a set of tunes that show as much New Orleans influence as you might guess from the title – but also an evolved British roots rock quality too! The group is very interesting – relatively lean, and with loads of saxophone solos from Mel Collins – the reedman who made some early 70s King Crimson albums so great – plus second guitar from Peter Thorup, who also adds a bit of slide, and makes for a strongly guitar-based groove amidst some of the slightly funky rhythms. Titles include "Gospel Ship", "Lo & Behold", "County Shoes", "Don't Change On Me", "Rock Me", and "Sweet Sympathy". LP, Vinyl record album
(Green label stereo pressing in the textured cover, with light wear and some sticker remnants. Includes the Warner inner sleeve.)

Mike Quatro Jam BandPaintings ... LP
Evolution, 1972. Very Good+ ... $3.99
Man, they had us at "Mike Quatro", then really won us over with "Jam Band"! Mike plays electric piano, mini-moog, organ, and lots of other piano too – plus flutes, bass, wah wah guitar, and sound effects – a very unusual album! There's a nice remake of "Court Of The Crimson King" – and Ted Nugent guests on guitar on two tracks too. John Finley sings vocals, too. LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a promo sticker, surface wear, and edge wear.)

Chris SquireFish Out Of Water ... LP
Atlantic, 1975. Very Good Gatefold ... $6.99
One of the greatest Yes albums of the 70s – even if it isn't a Yes album at all! Instead, the set's a stunning solo project from bassist Chris Squire – and a record that shows just how much his talents were to the sound of Yes as a whole! The album's got a vibe that's very much like the best Yes records of the early days – including Fragile, Close To The Edge, and Yes – and the changes and sharpness of the tunes are mindblowing – driven strongly by Squire's bass, and filled with fantastic touches from Bill Bruford on drums, Patrick Moraz on keyboards, and some especially great work on saxes from Mel Collins – who you might know from work with King Crimson. Chris also sings, and sounds pretty darn wonderful – with a bit of processing that expands his voice a bit, almost in Jon Anderson modes. Titles include "Hold Out Your Hand", "You By My Side", "Silently Falling", "Safe", and "Lucky Seven". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has surface & edge wear, tiny cutout notch.)

This may not have the classic rock staple Yes radio hits, but it very much indeed could be one of the best Yes albums! The last album with Bill Bruford before he left for King Crimson. Includes "Close To The Edge", "Siberian Khatru", and "And You & I". LP, Vinyl record album
(German pressing in a laminated cover – in nice shape! Includes the printed inner sleeve.)

Geffen, 1982. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A real moment of genius, even though we hate to admit it! At the time of its release, we hated this record – but have really come to respect it as a way of condensing and refining energy from the prog rock generation, and finding it a way to have new life in the 80s! The lineup is an all-star one, with roots in Yes, King Crimson, and other key groups – John Wetton on vocals and bass, Geoff Downes on keyboards, Steve Howe on guitars, and Carl Palmer on drums – on titles that include "Heat Of The Moment", "Only Time Will Tell", "Wildest Dreams", "Sole Survivor", "One Step Closer", and "Here Comes The Feeling". Apple, 1969. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Early, groovy Badfinger! Magic Christian Music features a few tracks that Badfinger cut for the film The Magic Christian, some earlier material cut when they were The Iveys, and more recent recordings of the time like the Paul McCartney-penned hit "Come And Get It" – all around post psychedelic pop-rock par excellence. Other tracks include "Crimson Ship", "Dear Angie", "Midnight Sun", "Angelique", "Maybe Tomorrow" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

Boardwalk, 1981. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Timeless rock & roll from Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – an indie rock pioneer who simply doesn't get the credit she deserves for shattering the glass ceiling for both women and independent souls in mainstream rock in the early 80s! Includes the hit title track and her cool cover of "Crimson & Clover", plus "Nag", "Bits & Pieces", "Be Straight" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has ring wear.)

✨✧ Wonderland PhilharmonicShogun Assassin ... LP
Baby Cart/Cinewax, 1980. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
The wildly influential soundtrack to Shogun Assassin – credited to The Wonderland Philharmonic, but co-produced and performed by Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere & The Raiders and disco guru W. Michael Lewis – heavy on moogy atmospherics and dialogue from the film! It's a triumph of oddly spacey action soundtrack composition, perhaps most famous for the huge influence on RZA's incredible peak-era Wu Tang production! Includes "The Legend Of The Lone Wolf", "Daigoro's Theme", "The Ninja", "Crimson Sky", "Dune", "Eyes Of A Demon" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Joe HendersonRelaxin' At Camarillo ... LP
Contemporary, 1979. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
We love Joe Henderson's 70s sides, and though this is reaching the end of the decade, it still smokes. Joe sounds great, with his raw edge still intact, playing nice far reaching solos that never leave the pocket. The set opens with "Y Todavia La Quiero", a nice groover with a feel like an uptempo "Love Supreme" set to cook rather than open you up spiritually. Chick Corea, Tony Dumas and Peter Erskine are the band, though Richard Davis and Tony Williams guest on two cuts. The set also includes one of our favorite Corea compositions, 'Yes, My Dear", plus the title track, "Crimson Lake" and "My One And Only Love". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Spontaneous CombustionTriad ... LP
Harvest, 1972. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Spontaneous Combustion blast it out of the park with this early 70s gem – a record that has all the complicated changes of a long-winded prog session, yet packs the punch of a tighter trio outfit in the end! There's a focus here that goes way beyond most of their contemporaries – hard rock edges borrowed from Deep Purple, yet served up with a jazzier undercurrent, and a clear knowledge of some of the headier groups of the time – almost touches of King Crimson at points, or other Harvest label contemporaries. The core energy between the guitar, bass, and drums is mighty nice – and titles include "Spaceship", "Brainstorm", "Child Life", "Love And Laughter", "Pan", "Rainy Day", and "Monolith". LP, Vinyl record album
