✨✧ Brother to BrotherIn The Bottle/The Affair ... 7-inch
Turbo, 1974. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Great groovy stuff – Brother to Brother's fabulous cover of the Gil Scott-Heron track "The Bottle" – done here with a cool flanged vocal chorus on the lyrics, and a tight jazzy groove that reproduces the feel of the original, but adds some soulful female vocals! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ JBsMy Brother (parts 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
People, 1971. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
An amazing instrumental that's one of our favorite tracks by the JBs! The cut's not like anything they ever cut – as it's got a rolling modal groove with a lot more jazz than usual, played on vamping keyboards and funky sax, riffing away at a breakneck pace that sounds like a "chase" theme from a blacksploitation flick! The cut's a monster, and part two really opens up the groove from part one. Plus the single says "Instrumental dedication to George Woods at 18th testimonial" on the label! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ James BrownTit For Tat (Ain't No Taking Back)/Believers Shall Enjoy (Non Believers Shall Suffer) ... 7-inch
King, Late 60s. Very Good- ... Out Of Stock
Two long titles, both of them nice! "Tit For Tat" has a great back-forth kind of groove – not really funky, but pretty darn catchy, and with some raw soulful vocals from brother James! "Believers" is an instrumental with some very nice organ work – James on the keys, playing in that weird noodly way that he always used on his best tracks of this type! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Isley BrothersI Know Who You Been Socking It To/I Turned You On ... 7-inch
T Neck, 1969. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The a-side's a familiar classic, but the b-side's our real favorite! "I Turned You On" has a nice slow sexy groove, with the kind of hook and power that made the Isleys so great in the early 70s! Wonderful stuff – and not easy to find on vinyl! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Includes jukebox tag. Vinyl has a tiny drill hole.)

✨✧ Brown Brothers Of SoulCholo/Poquito Soul ... 7-inch
Specialty, 1971. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
2 excellent funky instrumentals – both of Chicano origin, if we figure right from the title! "Cholo" is a slow funky tune with searing sax and organ over the top – conga beats sneaking in from time to time, but most of the groove laid down by bass. There's a bit of mad Spanish rapping from time to time – and the track has a nice mod groove! "Poquito" has stronger congas and more chants – with a very catchy groove, and a voice that goes "heeeey Chicano!" 7-inch, Vinyl record

One of their sweetest groovers from the 70s! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Johnny WilliamsSlow Motion (part 1)/Shall We Gather By The Water ... 7-inch
Philadelphia International, 1972. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Funky funky Philly! Not only is this single one of the most obscure on Philadelphia International, it's also one of the hardest – as Johnny sounds more like a Memphis or Macon soul singer than anyone who ever recorded in the city of Brotherly Love. "Slow Motion" begins with pounding tribal drums, and Johnny shouting out in kind of an Otis Redding mode – before organ and horns come in and make the whole groove nice and funky. Really nice stuff – and we wish we knew more about him! 7-inch, Vinyl record
