An incredible pairing of two important 60s talents – magnificent vocals from ArthurPrysock, and some of the best backings he ever received – thanks to Basie! LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo MGM pressing with deep groove. Cover has a factory sticker on the front and faint ringwear.)
Fantastic work from ArthurPrysock – a singer who really helped redefine the role of the male singer in the 60s, even though he's hardly remembered today! The title cut is one of his anthems – the kind of song that's heartfelt, yet masculine at the same time – almost a different twist on territory that singers like Jerry Butler or Chuck Jackson would explore in their work. Great arrangements – with a mix of strings and jazz – and titles include "I Worry Bout You", "My Everything", "I Just Want To Make Love To You", "You Loved Me Yesterday", and "Keep A Light In The Window For Me". LP, Vinyl record album
Genius! It's hard to go wrong with ArthurPrysock in the 60s – and an album like this is key proof of why he was one of the best male singers of his generation – even if nobody seems to remember that now! There's a mix of darkness in with the bold, adult, masculine approach here – a wonderful blend that really keeps things on edge. LP, Vinyl record album

With ArthurPrysock and Sarah Vaughan. LP, Vinyl record album
(Vinyl plays with a short and light click on "Hayloft". Cover is great.)
An early vocal set from Les McCann – quite unusual, and pretty darn soulful as well! The album's done in a mode that foreshadows Les' move to soul during the 70s, and features him singing to some hip arrangements by Gerald Wilson – in a soulful, jazzy style that was common for LA of the mid 60s – somewhere in a space between Lou Rawls and ArthurPrysock – with all the hip, adult aspects you'd expect from those references! Tunes include a fair bit of standards, but swung in really fresh ways by Wilson – and McCann's got this restrained style of singing that's really great – almost as if he's hiding a broken heart beneath his groove. Tracks include "It's Way Past Suppertime", "Next Spring", "Bye Bye Black Bird", "Deed I Do", "I Cried for You", and "Wonder Why". (Jazz, Vocalists)LP, Vinyl record album
(2020 EU reissue on Honey Pie – still sealed.)
