A beautiful early session on Charles Mingus' Debut Records label – one that features singer AdaMoore – a thin-voiced, yet soulful songstress with an edgey sort of tone! The album's got lots of nice rough edges that take it away from the cliched vocal album of the time – including searingly modern solos from LaPorta, slightly muted guitar work from Farlow, and an overall recording style that's very "roomy" – with almost a loft-like feel to the set. Titles include "Something To Live For", "Strange Fascination", "Devil Is A Woman", and "Lass From The Low Country". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mid 80s limited OJC pressing. Cover has a mild corner bend.)

Jimmy Rushing/AdaMoore/Buck Clayton —
Cat Meets Chick ... LP Columbia, 1956. Near Mint- ...
$11.9914.99
An interesting set – kind of a parody of the Girl Meets Boy album that had been issued a year or two before on Columbia – done with vocals by Jimmy and AdaMoore, and recorded as a "story in jazz" about love, love found, and love lost. Jimmy and Ada sing both separately and together, Buck Clayton plays a few instrumental sides – and titles include "The Blues", "Cool Breeze Woman", "Ain't She Sweet", "If I Could Be With You", and "Pretty Little Baby". LP, Vinyl record album
(80s Spanish Fresh Sound pressing.)
