✨✧ Tom ClayWhat The World Needs Now Is Love ... LP
MoWest, 1971. Near Mint- ... $4.99
A pretty compelling record issued on Motown's MoWest subsidiary. Tom Clay creates these groovy tracks that mix popular soul instrumentals (arranged by Gene Page and Artie Butler) with recitations that have a very righteous political feel. The single on the record, "What The World Needs Now/Abraham, Martin, & John", features Clay asking kids what prejudice is, while militaristic sound effects and JFK speeches creep in and out of the mix. The rest of the album continues this powerful kind of soundscape experiment, and it's actually a pretty resonant work that still holds up nicely today. (Soul, Spoken Word) LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear, aging, and is bent a bit with staple holes at the top left corner.)
