One of the grooviest soundtracks ever – an insane treat throughout! The music is very different than anything that George Garvarentz ever did before – and maybe since – as he brings together all sorts of cool jazz, funk, and psychedelic elements with effortless ease – then throws in a bit of the sort of sweetness that you'd find in more familiar Italian and French soundtracks of the time! George will be forever known to groove hounds everywhere for his landmark psych-funk track "Haschisch Party" – one of the gems on this album, and a cut that's got all this great mad sitar alongside really romping percussion– laid out nicely next to to the sweeping easy feel of "Le Mariage De Nathalie", the slinking sex of "Un Bonheur Malheureux", and the vocalizing of "Stay" and "My Way Of Loving You", both wonderful pop numbers with a sublime late 60s feel, and both sung in English! CD
CD reissue of the full soundtrack to the film version of Guys & Dolls – one that not only contains all of the vocal performances from the movie, but also adds in additional songs from the play that weren't in the film – as well as three unedited studio outtakes as well! Due to contractual issues at the time of release, there was never a proper LP that featured the music – a damn shame, given that Frank Sinatra turns in some of his best on screen vocal performances ever in the movie – alongside a great cast that includes Vivian Blaine, Stubby Kaye, Jean Simmons, and even Marlon Brando – making a rare appearance here as a singer! Titles form the film include the sublime "Adelaide", plus "Guys & Dolls", "Fugue For Tinhorns", "Luck Be A Lady", "Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat", "If I Were A Bell", "I'll Know", "Pet Me Poppa", "Sue Me", and "The Oldest Established Permanent Crap Game". Bonus tracks include "A Bushel & A Peck", "My Time Of Day", "I've Never Been In Love Before", and "Marry The Man Today" from the Broadway version – plus "I Know", "If I Were A Bell", and "A Woman In Love" in unedited versions. CD
A really wonderful little record – and some of our favorite work ever from Japanese pop maestro Ryuichi Sakamoto! Sakamoto really surprised folks with this set – not just because it accompanied his strong performance (with David Bowie) in the film, but also because it opened up the way to some of the wonderful film and sound scoring work he'd do in years to come – music that was often as simple and maybe electronic as his work with Yellow Magic Orchestra, but able to create a stunning amount of feeling and depth with just a few simple elements. The music is sublime – a masterpiece in understatement – and a series of instrumental selections ends up with the fantastic song "Forbidden Colours", which features vocals by David Sylvian – on a number that was one of his first great solo moments. Other titles include "The Seed", "Father Christmas", "Dismissed", "The Fight", "Batavia", and "Germination". CD features a number of bonus tracks, too! CD

A very groovy soundtrack, for a very groovy little movie – the quirky Good Times, directed by William Friedkin, and kind of the precursor for the Sonny & Cher TV show! The record differs a bit from the usual Atco album by the pair – in that, along with the vocal numbers, it also features some great instrumental bits by Sonny – which are arranged by Harold Batiste with a swirling LA pop groove that recalls the best genius of the Gold Star generation! Titles include a fab instrumental version of "I Got You Babe", plus the tracks "I'm Gonna Love You", "Trust Me", "Good Times", and the sublime long number "Just A Name". LP, Vinyl record album
(Purple & tan label stereo pressing. Cover has a small cutout hole, some yellowing from age, light blemishes at the top right, and is bent a bit at the edges.)
