Michel MagneMusique Taschiste ... LP
Cacophonic (UK), 1957. New Copy ... $10.99 26.99
Striking sounds from Michel Magne – an artist who's best known for his groovy soundtracks of the 60s – but who steps out here with a rare experimental set from the late 50s! The style is very much in keeping with the most compelling of the postwar generation in France – as Magne mixes together electronic and acoustic sounds with amazing power – modes that are sometimes as spacious as Pierre Henry, other times as sonically powerful as Xenakis – yet always very much Michel's own unique musical vision! Instrumentation includes some great cymbalum, plus piano, violin, vibes, and percussion – as well as some amzing vocalizations from Jaqueline Dano and Christiane Legrand. Titles include "Memoire D'Un Trou", "Self Service", "Concertino Triple", "Meta Mecanique Saccadee", "Larmes En Sol Pleureur", and "Pointes De Feu Amorties Au Dolsal". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Alain GoraguerMusique Classee X ... LP
Les Disques Du Culte (France), Late 70s. New Copy Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
That's a pretty racy cover – but the music inside is a lot more cool and classy – a set of sweet jazz funk numbers put together by the famous French maestro Alain Goraguer, with lots of nice electric touches! You may know Goraguer from his 60s work with singers – including France Gall and Serge Gainsbourg – or from his straighter soundtracks of that decade too – but here, he's going for a groovier, funkier style – one that fits the porno spirit of the cover, but with all the care and presentation of Alain's earlier work! In other words, these aren't just throwaway tracks churned out quickly for naughty movies – and instead, the songs are more like a 70s progression from the 60s soundtrack material by Goraguer. Titles include "Partenaires Particulieres Pour Parties Fines", "Kikumi Paravent Et Par Derriere", "Birgit Et La Male Du Pays", "Juliette Decoincee Dans L'Ascenseur", "Marie Jeanne Astique Le Pont", and "Post Scriptum Post Coitum". Alain PierreDes Morts ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), 1979. New Copy ... $26.99 29.99
A wonderfully strange mix of electronics and sounds from around the planet – as Alain Pierre uses field recordings from Thailand and Mexico, then mixes them with these really special creations of his own! Some of the other recordings are presented almost whole, but with some augmentation in a subtle way – and these are then balanced by Alain Pierre's own work, which moves between the more moody, abstract quality of the sound library scene of the 70s, into territory that's maybe more familiar to ears trained on musique concrete! Titles include "Des Morts", "Funerailles Chez Les Hmongs", "Clown", "Fete Des Morts Chez Les Indiens", and "Cryogene". LP, Vinyl record album

Alain PierreO Sidarta (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Finders Keepers (UK), 1974. New Copy ... $10.99 18.99
Two amazing works from Belgian electronic genius Alain Pierre – both appearing in this form for the first time ever! Side one features 11 minutes of continuous music that Pierre created for the short film O Sidarta – music that mixes a range of electronics, keyboards, and acoustic percussion with studio effects and voice – all with a result that almost feels like some of the longer-form prog creations of the German scene of the time – although with qualities that are much more varied, less rock-based, and with occasional nods to the earlier generation of musique concrete! The flipside features the 17 minute "Notions De Physique Intererieure" – a work that uses a wide array of electric sources in a very short space – theremin, Arp sequencer, Telefunken echomixer, and more Arp, Kort, and Oberheim keyboards – all in this slow-building, wonderfully spacey sort of mode – almost hinting at some of the straighter fantasy soundtracks that Pierre would create in the mainstream – as the piece has the feel of a story in sound! ✨✧ Alain GoraguerRare Soundtracks & Lost Tapes (L'Affaire Dominici/Au Dela De La Peur/Musiques Legeres) ... LP
Transversales Disques (France), Mid 1970s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Brilliant work from the always- great Alain Goraguer – a musician who started out in jazz, then did classic arrangements for Serge Gainsbourg, and went on to some killer soundtrack material too! That's what you'll hear, in a package that brings together lost and un-reissued work from Goraguer – starting with his beautiful sounds for the film L'Affaire Dominici – music that often has a balance of acoustic and electric instrumentation that reminds us of Francois De Roubaix, especially in the way that Goraguer can space out the melodies and rhythms, but also get funky too. The set features two great tracks from Au Dela De La Peur – with a sinister funk quality that reminds us of his best work for Serge Gainsbourg – followed by three final tracks from Musiques Legeres, which have this gentle, watery quality that's really beautiful! ✨✧ Maurice LecoeurMusiques Pour L'Image ... LP
Transversales Disques (France), 1970s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Really funky sounds from Maurice Lecoeur – an overlooked French soundtrack genius of the 70s – and one who worked in territory that was way past familiar standards for film! If you know the music of Francois DeRoubaix, you'll find plenty here to love – because like DeRoubaix, Lecoeur effortlessly mixes acoustic and electric, groovy and laidback, funky and jazzy – all with styles that move from full instrumentation to much sparer moments – at a level that matches if not beats some of the coolest sound library material of the time! Each track seems to have a very different vibe, which really keeps things interesting – and plenty funky too – and the package features 22 rare nuggets that include "Le Ballet Inacheve", "Sans Premeditation", "Baoou", "Safari Au Kivu Theme 1", "Faux Suspense", "Le Soleil Qui Rit Rouge", "Les Petites Filles Modeles", "Donne Moi La Terre", "Tartares", and "Chili". (Sound Library, Soundtracks) LP, Vinyl record album
