Georges DelerueDay Of The Dolphin ... LP
Avco, 1974. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
A really beautiful soundtrack from the great Georges Delerue – one that maybe has a bit more staying power than the unusual film for which it was scored! Delerue brings a richness to the music that's wonderful right from the start – sliding sentimental strings at some point, right as if they're lifted from one of his French cinematic classics – blended with more dramatic action points, both stark and more driving – mixed with occasional watery moments that are maybe the best on the soundtrack. Titles include the great main theme – plus "Whirlpool", "Dolphin Hunt", "Nocturne", "The Chase", "Dummy Mine", and "Finding The Flag". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has lightly bumped corners.)

Andrzej KorzynskiAkademia Pana Kleksa ... CD
GAD (Poland), 1983. New Copy ... $14.99 19.99
A weird and wonderful lost soundtrack from Polish composer Andrzej Korzynski – done for a movie that was essentially a children's story, but with a great array of unusual sounds and very cool 80s keyboards! The music is very much in par with some of Korzynski's other classics – and maybe has an even more eerie sort of vibe, given the mix of sweetness and dark that comes across – as some themes feel a bit redemptive, but others have a very moody sort of approach! The whole thing almost reminds us of an 80s variation of the same territory as the Peau D'Ane soundtrack by Michel Legrand – and the music also features some straighter electric piano, guitar, and orchestrations alongside a Yamaha keyboard. Titles include "Laser Golaraza", "Wilki Zdobywaja Zamek", "Inwazja Wilkolakow", "Zaklad Golarza Filipa", "Lustro", and "Leckcja Pryzrody". First time on CD – with bonus tracks, and some detailed notes on the unusual production of the film! CD

Ennio MorriconeOcchio Alla Penna (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Cinevox (Italy), 1981. New Copy ... $21.99 24.99
A Morricone score penned for a comedic western – but music that's really on a par with any of his more familiar classics of the genre! The styles here run from dark to bright – with some numbers that feature trademark Morricone styles like isolated harmonica or chanting vocals, to others that cascade with slightly more contemporary instrumental modes – including just a bit of subdued electricity amidst the larger orchestrations. But in any setting, the Morricone genius shines through beautifully – and there's a sense of depth to even the simplest tunes here that's really great – and the balance here is what really makes the album strong. CD features a whopping 29 tracks in all – way more than any other issue of music from the film – with titles that include "Non Fare L'Indiano", "Sfida All'Ultima Forchetta", "L'Ultima Tromba", "Tanti Pugni", "Occhio Alla Pena", "Passagio Dal Male Al Bene", and "Dal Sarto". Ennio MorriconeStato Interessante ... CD
GDM (Italy), 1977. Used ... $19.99
An obscure Morricone soundtrack, but a great one too – done with a slinky, seductive feel that's totally great – and often a bit different than his early 70s classics! Many of the numbers here have a warm glow – a sound that's never too polished, but more in the erotic side of the Morricone spectrum than the spooky one. And a few cuts feature some nice instrumental touches that really stand out – like jazzy flute, blue-tinged trumpet, and even some of those great "boing" noises that used to show up in Ennio's western scores from time to time! Titles include "Una Bossa A Cena", "Per L'Amore Si Fara", "Mezza Luce", "E Mejo De Mori Che Resta Qui", "Per Annabella", and "Una Famiglia Povera". CD

Nino RotaAmarcord ... LP
RCA, 1974. Near Mint- ... $24.99 29.99
A gem of a record from the legendary Nino Rota – one of his best scores for director Federico Fellini – a bit later than some of their 60s classics, but equally great! The music is filled with Rota's trademark interweaving of dominant themes and lighter moments – the kind of tight chamber scoring that makes his compositions work so well – bouncey, but never silly, moody, but never too serious. The narrative takes Rota to more pan-historic territory, but his approach here is similar to Fellini films set in contemporary Rome – and dominant instrumentation includes bits of accordion, piano, horns, and gentle strings. Wonderful stuff all around – with loads of short little tracks that have some nice hooks – titles that include "La Fogaraccia", "La Gradisca E Il Principe", "Gary Cooper", "Lo Struscio", "Amarcord", and "Ti Ricordi Siboney". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original Italian Cam pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear and minor blemishes.)
