✨✧ Chris & CoseyElemental 7 ... LP
CTI (UK), 1983. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
One of our favorite projects from the early years of Chris & Cosey – music done for a video release, but still very much like their own studio records of the time – yet with less vocals, and more sonic elements in the mix – so that the whole thing feels like a rare nugget from the farther reaches of the cold wave years! As with Cabaret Voltaire and some of their other contemporaries, music for videos and films always really seemed to open up different sides of the electronic artists of the period – elements that sometimes brought in a richer sense of feeling, but also a greater sense of freedom too – as they were shifting their sounds for the images, not the confines of a vocal tune. That's definitely the case here – served up on tunes that include "Wellspring Of Life", "The Final Calling", "Dancing Ghosts", "Meeting Mr Evans", "Temple Bar", and "Invisible Spectrum". ✨✧ Eumir Deodato, Tom Jobim, & OthersBossa Nova – Original Soundtrack ... CD
Polygram (Brazil), 2000. Used ... Out Of Stock
Kind of a painful movie, but a pretty sweet soundtrack! The set features a number of new works produced by Deodato, very much in the spirit of his Inutil Paisagem 60s bossa recordings – with wonderfully complex airy melodies, and a touch so light you can't believe there's actually a conscious act behind the music. The new titles feature vocals by Barbara Mendes and Carol Rogers – and include "Samba De Uma Nota So", "Mary Ann's Theme", "Suddenly", "Soul Mates", "Amor Em Paz", and "Juan's Theme". Most of the rest of the CD features older work from Jobim's years at Verve and CTI – including the tracks "Wave", "Aguas De Marco", "Chega De Saudade", and "Inutil Paisagem". Also features a semi-painful duet between Jobim and Sting – ouch! (Brazil, Soundtracks) CD

✨✧ Hubert Laws & Earl KlughHow To Beat The High Cost Of Living – Original Soundtrack ... LP
Columbia, 1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A totally wonderful little record – not just a funky 70s soundtrack, but an excellent jazz outing as well – thanks to the talents of Hubert Laws on flute and Earl Klugh on guitar! Patrick Williams wrote and arranged the whole set – and he merges his jazzier roots with some of his sublime 70s soundtrack skills – in a mix that's still lean enough to keep the album right up there with Laws' best from the time, but also give things a bit more of a funky punch, too. There's lots of great moments in a CTI/Kudu mode – and titles include "Down River", "Piccolo Boogie", "The Edge", "The Caper", "The Scuffle", and "Ready To Run". Lalo SchifrinNunzio ... LP
MCA, 1978. Near Mint- ... $6.99
A really unusual soundtrack from the mighty Lalo Schifrin – and one that seems to show off all of his best modes in its shifting range of styles! The film is a somewhat understated story set on the streets of New York – and the music often takes on the same sort of vibe – with some beautiful melodic passages that are quite different than Lalo's big hits of the 60s. But then there's also some beautiful orchestra moments too – with these arrangements that are complicated, yet sparkling – that sophisticated charm that always put Schifrin ahead of the pack! And then Lalo even opens up with a few funkier tracks that recall his electric jazz albums of the late 70s for the CTI label – fuller groovers that are showcased on the two longest tracks – "Hey Nunzio" and "Candy Store Frenzy". Other titles include "Sad Nunzio", "Superspeed", "To The Rescue", "Only A Memory", "Nunzio In Love", "Goodnights My Little One", and "Flying Love". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a cut corner, some ring and edge wear, and a small promo sticker and stained spots in back.)

Andrew Lloyd WebberOdessa File ... LP
Decca, 1974. Near Mint- ... $4.99
A strange little soundtrack from Andrew Lloyd Webber – written to accompany this action film starring Jon Voight, based on the spy thriller by Frederick Forsythe. About half the soundtrack is classical tunes or traditional German numbers – but there's also some nice electric funk tunes that more than make the album worth checking out, played by a small combo with some great keyboard work! The slowly funky tunes have a dope soundtrack feel and a bit of a CTI touch – and titles include "Miller's Theme", "Miller Joins The Odessa", and "Odessa Discovery" – all of which are nice weird funky tunes! LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ VariousEasy Tempo Vol 3 – Further Cinematic Easy Listening Experiences ... CD
Easy Tempo (Italy), 1960s/1970s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
One of our favorite volumes in this now-legendary series – a set of grooves that runs from 70s electric back to 60s groovy – with plenty of space in between! There's a number of cuts on here that feel like they were lifted from lost CTI sessions of the 70s, thanks to warm keyboards and spare, subtle beats – while others mix together mod 60s styles, and even bits of Latin and Brazilian influences! The track selection is sublime, and still one of the best illustrations of the genius of this period – with tracks that include "Diamond Bossa Nova" by Franceso De Masi, "Lady Magnolia" by Piero Umiliani, "Nago" by Luiz Bacalov, "Bob E Hellen" by Piero Umiliani, "North Pole Penguin" by Piero Piccioni, "Beryl's Tune No 2" by Agusto Martelli, "Flute Sequence" by Franco Micalizzi, "Danza Citar Free" by Piero Umiliani, "Honey Rhythm & Blutter" by The Green Future, "Esquetando Os Tambourinos E Cuica" by Sergio Nilo, and "Soul Samba" by Attilio Donadio. (Funky Compilations, Soundtracks) CD
