Pierre BacheletBlack & White In Color ... LP
Buddah, 1977. Sealed ... $4.99
Although composed by 70s sex-soundtrack genius Pierre Bachelet, this one's mostly a batch of jaunty, jagged little themes, a bit like Nino Rota's work for Fellini, with lots of similar touches. There's one striking number, though – "Ivory Coast Drums" – which has a weird back/forth rhythm approach, a bit of echo on the drums, and a melodic progression that makes the track a nice dark little number. Bachelet sings vocals on the French version of the "Black & White" theme – and other tracks include "The Letter", "The Battle", "Crossing The Rhine", "Fresnoy's Theme", and "La Chanson Des Souliers". LP, Vinyl record album
(Still sealed, with light wear and a cutout notch. Shrinkwrap has small tears at the left corners.)

✨✧ Lalo SchifrinEnter The Dragon ... LP
Warner, 1973. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A classic to end all classics – and the record that showed the world that the kung fu genre could be every bit as funky as American crime and action films! Lalo Schifrin's at the height of his powers on this set – working in a blend of raw guitars, rolling bass, and choppy rhythms that groove about as fast as Bruce Lee's hands move on the screen in the film – and the album's a real standout in the 70s soundtrack scene, well worth all the hype and attention that's been given to it over the years! The record's one you'll dig if you're a fan of funk, or a student of Schifrin – and even after the passage of decades, it's still a tough soundtrack to beat. Titles include the classic "Theme From Enter The Dragon", plus "Bamboo Bird Cage", "The Monk", "Han's Island", "The Big Battle", and "The Human Fly". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original US pressing. Cover has a split spine, half split top seam, some ring & edge wear.)

✨✧ Grant GreenFinal Comedown - Original Soundtrack ... LP
Blue Note, 1972. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
An excellent lost funky soundtrack on Blue Note – their only one for years, and Grant Green's entry into the blacksploitation genre! The whole thing bristles with the kind of chunky, thumping percussive feel as the best funky soundtracks of the era – informed by the work of Curtis Mayfield and Isaac Hayes, but with the deeper jazz feel that Green brings from his other Blue Note sides of the time! Some cuts are quite funky, particularly the opener, "Past, Present, and Future" with it's crisp trap, chicken scratch guitar and bongo driven beat. Others have more of a stripped-down dope instrumental feel – there's some sweet funky flute work on "Fathers Lament", and even a slight bossa groove creeps into the title track! The whole album's very nice, and it's very different than any of Grant Green's other work! Other titles include "Afro Party", Luana's Theme", "Slight Fear And Terror", and "Battle Scene". (Jazz, Soundtracks) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousBeat Street – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Vol 2 ... LP

The stand-out cut here is the break dance track "Son of Beat Street" with lots of cutting by Jazzy Jay. ✨✧ Bernard HerrmannSeventh Voyage Of Sinbad (Varese) ... LP
Varese, 1958. Sealed ... Out Of Stock
A Sinbad movie, but one that's put together with a really rich soundtrack – possibly done with more care than the images on the screen for the film! The setting and story are a bit schlocky, but the music is actually classic Herrmann – a very powerful score with loads of dramatic finishes, countless mood shifts, and impeccable orchestrations – that masterful mode that's graced his better-known film scores for directors like Hitchcock or Scorcese, sounding equally great here. Titles include "The Flight", "Battle With The Cyclops", "The Death Of The Dragon", "The Vase", "Sultan's Feast", "Bagdad", "Cobra Dance", and "Transformation". LP, Vinyl record album

Stu PhillipsBattlestar Galactica – Original Soundtrack ... LP
MCA, 1978. Very Good ... $3.99
Stu really surprised us all with this one – working in full orchestral mode on a great set of dramatic themes that almost beats John Williams at his game! The work was scored for the great 70s TV sci fi flick Battlestar Galactica – and overall, most of the tunes are orchestral ones, done in the highly dramatic and action-charged style of work that was revived strongly on the Star Wars score. But the album also features a nice disco tune – "It's Love Love Love", sung by the Space Angels! Other titles include "Cassiopia & Starbuck", "Destruction Of Peace", "Fighter Launch", "Escape From The Ovion Mines", "Let's Go Home", and "Dash To The Elevator". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear.)
