✨✧ Francois De RoubaixL'Essential Francois De Roubaix ... CD
Universal (France), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Some of the coolest soundtrack music you'll ever hope to hear – all played by a cat who could equally handle the sitar, guitar, Fender Rhodes, and electronics pictured on the cover! Francois De Roubaix is easily one of our favorite soundtrack composers ever – a French talent at the end of the 60s who never got the same international exposure as some of his countrymen, but who had an ear for odd instrumentation and funky undercurrents that rivals that of Serge Gainsbourg, Michel Colombier, or Jean-Claude Vannier – although we might even be tempted to say that Francois is even more way-out than any of them! This collection really lives up to its "essential" promise – and mixes together weird electronic numbers, bass-heavy funk tracks, jazzy groovers, and lots more – all with arrangements and production that are totally fresh, and which should turn you into the same sort of De Roubaix fanatic that we've been for years. Titles include "Le Samourai", "L'Homme Orchestre", "La Vie A Bord", "Les Caids", "Bataille Navale", "Clara 1939", "Journal De Bord", "Le Rapace", "La Scoumoune", "Dernier Domicile Connu", "Tom/Les Prisonniers", "Adieu L'Ami", and "Far From Dallas". Cosmic NeighbourhoodLibrary Music Vol 1 (10 inch LP) ... LP
Kit (UK), 2020. New Copy ... $12.99
Cosmic Neighbourhood move into the realm of sound library music with this delightful little record – a 10" album that's filled with short, captivating tunes – mostly melodic, and with electronic components, but delivered in a style that's really organic, and very beautiful! At some level, the music almost feels like a more condensed take on some of the Japanese ambient modes of years past – but with a faster progression of ideas, given the shortness of the tunes. Yet there's also something maybe a bit more universal – as if Cosmic Neighbourhood have found a way to create the sort of little tunes that might be rumbling around somewhere out there in nature. Titles include "Nature Spirit", "Waving Tree", "Night People", "Witches Hat", "Pine Wizard", "Overgrown Garden", "Fortune Teller", and "Caterpillar". LP, Vinyl record album

Freedom PowerFreedom Power ... LP
CMT/Sonor (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)... About September 10, 2020 (delayed)
Mad funky work from the Italian studio scene of the 70s – the only album we've ever seen from Freedom Power – a combo who play with the energy of an American blacksploitation soundtrack from back in the day! There's loads of heavy drums, fast-riffing guitar, and sweet keyboards on the set – and although the record's got a few trippy moments that feature slightly psychedelic production, the overall vibe is way more in the soulful side of the spectrum – which really gives the album a universal appeal. There's some great tenor on a few cuts, and we wish we could tell you more about the players – but we're guessing they're some top-shelf jazz musicians, working under an assumed name. Titles include "Happy Fire", "Sigla RP", "Reaction", "Vortice", "Psycho", "Trip Free", "Freedom Power", "Privacy", and "Dopping 2000". LP, Vinyl record album
