✨✧ Howard JohnsonKeepin' Love New ... LP
A&M, 1982. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Warmly grooving vocal work from Howard Johnson – one of the few albums the singer cut under his own name, and a sparkling gem from the 80s groove scene! Howard's got a style that really sets the stage for some of the bigger singers of his time – a sound that's mature, yet still very able to groove – which is something that Johnson does often in the set, supported by some snapping bass, electro keyboards, and crackling drums on most of the cuts. Kashif wrote about half the tracks on the album, and also co-produced – and titles include "So Fine", "Keepin Love New", "Jam Song", "Take Me Through The Night", "Say You Wanna", and "This Is Heaven". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light wear and is bent a bit at the spine and bottom right corner.)

✨✧ Howard JohnsonVision ... LP
A&M, 1985. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Solid 80s grooving soul from Howard Johnson – a singer who'd worked often with other, bigger artists – but who only cut a handful of albums under his own name. The set's got a lot of production help from Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who make their presence known in the record's electrified bass and keys approach – but it's Johnson's strong presence as a lead singer that really holds the set together – a sweet little groover! Titles include "So Tuff", "Knees", "Stand Up", "Outta My Head", "Older Girl", "Show Me How", and "You've Got A Lot To Learn". LP, Vinyl record album

Stanley ClarkeTime Exposure ... LP
Epic, 1984. Near Mint- ... $9.99
A nice funky electric groover from Stanley Clarke's mid 80s R&B years! Time Exposure has a lot of period electro funk in the mix, particularly Clarke's impeccable bass lines, which are heavy throughout! A brilliant mix of 80s fusiony future funk with jazz precision – definitely a funky highlight from this period in Clarke's career – and those bass lines are just unreal! A pretty eclectic roster of guest musicians play on this one, including tenor sax player Ernie Watts, fellow bassist Louis Johnson of Brothers Johnson, singer Howard Hewitt and rock guitar guru Jeff Beck. Titles include "Play The Bass 10", "Are You Ready (For The Future)", "Heaven Sent You", "Time Exposure", "Speedball", "Future Shock", "Spacerunner", "I Know Just How You Feel" and more. (Jazz, Soul) LP, Vinyl record album
(Grey label EU pressing. Cover has light ringwear, some edge wear, and is bent a bit at the edges. Label has a sticker spot.)

Ariola/BMG (Japan), 1979. Used ... Out Of Stock
A beautiful album of jazzy modern soul tracks – and quite possibly the best album by this legendary combo! There's a joyous, upbeat feel here that's totally great – miles from mainstream soul of the time, in a way that's always made the record a favorite for fans of the Free Soul scene – who've kept it strong for years. Lead vocals are by Sandy Torano and Howard Johnson – but the backing vocals are great too, and feature Phyllis Hyman – used in subtle ways to flesh out the sound nicely – and the instrumentation is often funky, but has a warmer, jazzier undercurrent too. Titles include "If You Want it", "All About Love", "Get On the Fun", "Tryin To Find", "No Two Alike", "Make It Right", and "Easy Come". CD
(Out of print, includes obi.)

TK/Ultra Vybe (Japan), 1970s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A great collection of rare 45s from the powerhouse TK Records label and all it's many smaller imprints – Dade, Glades, Alston, and many others – brought here together with a focus on a really special side of the label! TK was one of the first to really promote the 12" single in the disco generation – but before, during, and after the label maintained a strong commitment to the funky 45 too – and really used the format to showcase some of its stronger soul singers, in a way that made sure that the 7" singles packed plenty of punch! This set features 24 of those rare nuggets from TK, with plenty of obscure numbers in the lineup – and titles include "All Because Of Your Love" by Otis Clay, "Rules Are Made To Be Broken" by The Diamonettes, "Never Had A Love So Good" by Charles Johnson, "I Can't Speak" by Jimmy Bo Horne, "Don't Waste My Time" by Jerry Washington, "Hold On To It" by Barry Smith, "Please Don't Stop" by Wildflower, "Stop Hurting Me Baby" by Purple Mundi, "One Night Affair" by The Rising Sun, "That Is Why" by Sherlyn Wittiker & Touch, "Even Though" by King Tutt, "Do What You Wanna Do (part 1)" by Frank Howard & The Continentals, and "How Can I Do What's Right" by Vanessa Kendrick.
