A great little set from keyboardist Lyman Woodard – and one that's definitely got some of the Latin flavor promised by the spelling in the title! Woodard's still playing some mighty nice organ and electric piano lines, but the group here also has some added Latin percussion at the bottom – and this expansive, warmly soulful sound that almost reminds us of some of the late 70s Fania fusion funk records – especially work by Mongo Santamaria when he was using a lot of Fender Rhodes! A young Regina Carter is on the record – both vocalizing and playing violin – and the tracks are long, and really compelling – with a complexity that's different than other Woodard albums, yet still just the right sort of groove. Titles include "Itanita", "Don't Stay Away", "Dedication", and "And The Ship Sails On". (Jazz, Soul)CD
