Melodic, barbed postpunk from suburban Chicago's Epicycle – rare material from '79 to '81! Chicago's punk scene was a disparate community back in the day, with very few bands breaking out and finding a broad fanbase. That in mind, it shouldn't be so stunning that Epicycle is underappreciated, but this stuff is different. It's catchy as hell – tuneful in the same way as power pop heroes like The Shoes and early Cheap Trick – but with a rawness and incisive wordplay that's more in the punk wheelhouse.
