RamonesRamones (Expanded & Remastered) ... CD
Sire/Rhino, 1976. Used ... $5.99
As great of a rock & roll album as there's ever been! It's impossible to describe this record without sounding like a blow hard, but you really can't overstate what these four goony guys from Queens accomplished. 30-odd years of the most visceral pop music concentrated into 2 minute, 3 chord blasts of beautiful sonic catharsis – and they could barely even play. Thanks boys. Tracks include "Blitzkreig Bop", "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", "Beat On The Brat", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "I Don't Wanna Around With You", "Loudmouth", and "Today Your Love", Tomorrow The World". 8 bonus tracks include original demo versions of many of the album tracks – plus never officially released outtakes from the sessions including "I Can't Be" and "I Don't Wanna Be Learned/I Don't Wanna Be Tamed". CD
(Out of print 2001 Warner Archives pressing.)

✨✧ RamonesIt's Alive ... CD
Sire/Warner, 1977. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Prime live material from the Ramones – recorded on the final night of 1977, right when the group was at the height of their power! If you ever got a chance to see The Ramones back in the day, the sound was really amazing – every bit as short, sharp, and focused as the studio records – but even more so, as the group would work through their set list with razor-sharp intensity, almost this juggernaut of punk rock sound that never lets up from start to finish! That quality is definitely in place here, as the whole thing tears through an incredible set list that includes "California Sun", "Rockaway Beach", "Teenage Lobotomy", "I Wanna Be A Good Boy", "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", "Suzy Is A Headbanger", "I Don't Care", "Havana Affair", "We're A Happy Family", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "Let's Dance", "Chainsaw", "Do You Wanna Dance", "You're Gonna Kill That Girl", "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment", "Glad To See You Go", and "Blitzkrieg Bop". ✨✧ RamonesLeave Home (Expanded & Remastered) ... CD
Sire/Rhino, 1977. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The Ramones really caught their classic recorded sound for the first time on Leave Home – the second of their three perfect late 70s milestones. As amazing as the debut is, its two-channel shrieking buzz saw sound bowed nicely to the slightly more digestible but just as cathartic roar of the follow ups. Titles include "California Sun", "Glad To See You Go", "Suzy Is A Headbanger", "Pinhead", "What's Your Game", "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment", and "I Remember You". Also included on the CD are "Babysitter" and the great "Carbona Not Glue" – previously left off all but the first vinyl pressing to accommodate the minor hit they had in "Rock 'N' Roll High School". The bonus material on this Rhino edition consists of a 16 track, 1976 live recording from the Hollywood Roxy – not bad for a record that only had 15 tracks to begin with! The live set is heavy on tracks from the debut, and includes "Loudmouth", "Beat On The Brat", "Chain Saw", "53rd & 3rd", "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", and "Havana Affair". ✨✧ RamonesRamones Mania ... CD
Reprise, Late 70s-Mid 80s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Just when The Ramones were fading into cultural oblivion in the mid 80s – despite being the defining NYC punk band and a group that distilled the previous couple decades of the best and fiercest rock & roll into their own influential blasts – this epic compilation brought about their first and only gold record. Hey ho to Ramones Mania for bringing the boys to the kids of the 80s and cementing their legendary reputation! Includes the best of the early classics and also the most tolerable of their 80s efforts to this point: "I Wanna Be Sedated", "Teenage Labotomy", "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", "We're A Happy Family", "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg", "Psycho Therapy", "Rock N Roll High School" and many more. ✨✧ RamonesRocket To Russia (Expanded & Remastered) (Japanese paper sleeve edition – with bonus tracks) ... CD
Sire/Warner (Japan), 1977. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Alright, let's get this straight right now – the songs don't sound the same, they ARE the same and that's why we love them! If you found a way to concentrate 30 years of the best rock & roll into two and a half minutes of beautiful primal energy that still managed to qualify as ear candy, would you try to change things up? Tracks include "Rockaway Beach", "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", "Why Is It Always This Way", "Surfin Bird", "Do You Wanna Dance", and "Cretin Hop". Odds, ends, and demos include an early version of "Needles & Pins", a demo of a song called "Slug", single versions of "I Don't Care" and "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", and the UK version of "It's A Long Way Back To Germany". ✨✧ RamonesRoad To Ruin (Expanded & Remastered) ... CD
Sire/Rhino, 1978. Used ... Out Of Stock
A prime Ramones classic from the late 70s – a set that's got Joey, Johnny, and crew really hitting right on the money – with the kind of short sharp tracks that made the group such a key bridge between the 60s and the blank generation! The energy here is phenomenal – the kind of nonstop, always-blistering vibe that few of their imitators could ever hope to match – and certainly never with songs that are this catchy and perfectly formed! Titles include their classic "I Wanna Be Sedated", – plus "I Just Want Something To Do", "Needles & Pins", "Questioningly", "I Wanted Everything", "Go Mental", "Bad Brain", "It's A Long Way Back", and "Don't Come Close". Bonus material includes unreleased Ed Stasium mixes of "I Want You Around" and "Rock 'N' Roll High School" (way better than Spector's), a tight live medley of several of the classics, and demos "Come Back, She Cried" and "Yea, Yea". RezillosCan't Stand The Rezillos/Mission Accomplished But The Beat Goes On ... CD
Sire, 1978/1979. Used ... $5.99
First up is Can't Stand The Rezillos – a record with guitars fast and hard enough to almost be late 70s punk rock, but which often comes off with a more playful, whimsical new wave sort of approach! Tracks are short and hook-heavy – produced by Bob Clearmountain with that razor-edged quality he brought to his best work of the time – and the trading off of lead vocals between Fay Fife and Eugene Reynolds makes the record hang nicely in a space between Blondie and The Ramones! Titles include "Flying Saucer Attach", "No", "Top Of The Pops", "2000 AD", "It Gets Me", "Glad All Over", and "Cold Wars". Next is Mission Accomplished – a fierce little live set from The Rezillos – one that comes as quite a surprise, since the group had only issued one studio set before – but a great choice overall, as the live setting really seems to set them on fire! Things here are harder, faster, and sharper than on their debut – with more punk speed and energy in the guitars, even if the songs themselves are more in a power pop mode – as tuneful as they are quick-moving! The concert was actually the group's last – recorded at a time when they'd announced a breakup – and that maybe gives the whole thing an urgency that was missing before, and which really makes us wish they'd kept recording. Titles include "Top Of The Pops"," Mystery Action", "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonite", "Thunderbirds Are Go", "No", "Teenbeat", "Ballroom Blitz", "Destination Venus", and "Culture Shock". CD

✨✧ VariousCome On Let's Go – Power Pop Gems From The 70s & 80s ... CD
Ace (UK), Late 1970s/Early 1980s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A fantastic introduction to the world of power pop – that tight, fast, catchy style of music that came about at the same time as punk – and which flourished for a few short years as a more tuneful take on the sound of the underground! Some of the artists here hit big in the years before, others were later smothered in the world of 80s chart hits and music videos – but for a brief, wonderful time, the record racks exploded with great singles and album tracks like these – tunes that almost were a back-to-basics approach after the era of AOR and classic rock, but without some of the sneering attitudes of punk. Most of the artists here are American, and there's a few gems here from the early 70s – key tracks that point the way towards the golden era – all captured beautifully by Ace/Big Beat with their usual detailed notes and history on the music. Titles include "Let Go" by Dirty Looks, "Come On Let's Go" by The Paley Brothers with The Ramones, "Baby It's You" by The Boys, "Nothing Comes Close" by Bill Lloyd, "Better Than Anyone Else" by The Toms, "Nuclear Boy" by 20/20, "Rock & Roll Is Dead" by The Rubinos, "One World" by Utopia, "Andy Please" by Van Duren & The Jody Stephens, "The Trains" by Nashville Ramblers, "Shake Some Action (first version)" by The Flamin Groovies, "What I Like About You" by The Romantics, "I Need That Record" by The Tweeds, "Looking For The Magic" by Dwight Twilley Band, "Kerri" by Robert Johnson, "Radio Heart" by The Secrets, and "Teen Line" by The Shivvers. ✨✧ UndertonesUndertones (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Salvo/Union Square (UK), 1979. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the tightest, sharpest records of the late 70s punk years in the British Isles – a set that's got all the same hook-heavy power of the Buzzcocks on Singles Going Steady – with song after song that seem almost effortless – very punky, but extremely catchy too – at a level that also has the record rivaling some of the best classics by The Ramones as well! The whole thing's a treasure – and titles include "Family Entertainment", "Male Model", "Teenage Kicks", "Jump Boys", "Here Comes The Summer", "Get Over You", "Jimmy Jimmy", "(She's A) Runaround", "I Know A Girl", and "Listening In". ✨✧ VariousPhil Spector – Back To Mono 1958 to 1969 (4CD set) ... CD
Abkco, Late 50s/1960s. Used 4 CDs ... Out Of Stock
The classic box set featuring so many of the biggest, best, and brightest pop, rock & soul singles of the late 50s and on through the 60s – those ubiquitous, but no less incredible productions from that crazy genius Phil Spector! Back To Mono features many of the best known numbers by the Ronettes, the Righteous Brothers, Darlene Love, the Checkmates, the Crystals and many more – all of it with the appropriately dubbed Wall Of Sound that made Phil Spector the most famous producer of all time! We'd love to see an addendum someday featuring a set of Spector's productions for those idiosyncratic superstars of the 70s (the Ramones, Leonard Cohen, the post-Beatles) – but as a snapshot of an era, this box can hardly be beaten! 60 tracks on the the main 3CDs in the set – plus a 4th CD featuring the classic Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector album from 1963! Titles include "To Know Him Is To Love Him" by the Teddy Bears, "Spanish Harlem" by Ben E King, "I Love How You Love Me" by Paris Sisters, "He's A Rebel" by the Crystals, "(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Going To Marry" by Darlene Love, "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes, "Hold Me Tight" by the Treasures, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" by the Righteous Brothers, "River Deep Mountain High" by Ike & Tina, "Love Is All I Have To Give" by Checkmates and tons more – plus the immortal holiday disc featuring the Ronettes, Bob B Soxx & The Blue Jeans, Crystals, Darlene Love and more! All that, and a thick, nearly 100 page booklet! CD
(Out of print, includes book and "Back To Mono" button too! Outer box has some edgewear and booklets have some light age spots but set is in overall good condition.)

✨✧ ClashClash (UK version) ... CD
Epic, 1977. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of the most stunning debut albums of the 70s – and a set that burst on the scene with a sound that summed up a generation, but which had never been heard this clearly before! This self-titled Clash album was different from other landmarks of the time – work by the Sex Pistols, Ramones, and others – as the group had a sense of raw power, but also a tunefulness too – a way of pushing their message into territory that others wouldn't have reached – with tunes that were as surprisingly hummable as they were politically correct! There's a bit less Jamaican influence here than in later Clash years, but that quality is still present somewhat – and over the years, this is definitely a set we can return to again and again – with no sense of apology or outdated ideals at all. Nearly every cut's a classic – and the original UK tracklist includes "Janie Jones", "Career Opportunities", "Police & Thieves", "Garageland", "White Riot", "London's Burning", "Deny", "I'm So Bored With The USA". CD
Also available Clash ... LP 59.99
