✨✧ Link WrayLink Wray Rumble ... LP
Polydor, 1974. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A really cool 70s album from the great Link Wray – done at the time when he was reinventing himself, and changing from a damn great instrumental guitarist to a singer as well – one with a much bolder presence in the limelight than ever before! Wray serves up some fantastic electric solos here, and sings a fair bit too – and the record has some connection to his earlier self-titled set on Polydor, but was recorded at Wally Heider's in San Francisco – instead of Link's three-track shack – which makes for a richer vibe overall! There's plenty of great help on the session – all-star work from Boz Scaggs on guitar, Pete Escovedo on congas, and Lenny Pickett on tenor – and Wray may well be at the apex of his 70s confidence in the lead, as you'll hear on titles that include "It Was A Bad Scene", "Good Time Joe", "Walkin/Bulldog", "I Got To Ramble", "We Said I Do", "Step This Way", "Super 88", and "She's That Kind Of Woman". ZzebraPanic ... LP
Polydor/Trading Places (Italy), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... $25.99 29.99
One of the best albums ever by this British group that mixed jazz, funk, and rock – with lots of choppy guitar parts, and some nice funky drum breaks! The band had a looser sound on some of their other records, but this one is nicely compressed – especially for fans of later British jazz rock. A few tracks have some vocals, but there's more than enough instrumental cuts to make you forget them. Titles include "La Si Si-La So So", "Panic", "Liamo", "Tree", and "Death By Drowning". ✨✧ Allman BrothersIdlewild South ... LP
Capricorn, 1970. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
The second album from the Allman Brothers, and maybe the one where their sound really comes together – an incredibly chromatic approach to long-spun work on guitar – almost influenced by jazz at times, and definitely very different than some of the more jamming work of the scenes on the coasts at the time! The group really let the tunes open up and flow – brimming over with so much sublime guitar work from Greg Allman, already a very distinct voice on his instrument – matched with more guitar from Dicky Betts, and given all these warm organ lines from Greg Allman, whose vocals are wonderful too. This may not have been the first record to try to find a southern voice in modern rock, but it's definitely one of the most crucial – as you'll hear on titles that include the classic "Midnight Rider" – plus "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", "Revival", "Don't Keep Me Wonderin", "Hoochie Coochie Man", and "Please Call Home". Golden EarringEight Miles High ... LP
Atlantic, 1969. Near Mint- ... $33.99 39.99
A pretty fierce and fantastic album from Golden Earring – one that's very different than you might think if you only know the group from their later hits on radio! The sound here is completely full-on – heavy drums, rumbling bass, and stunning guitar work from George Kooymans – touched with some jazzier elements at times on flute and organ, which links the record a bit to that moment when the UK scene had turned blues inspirations to prog explorations – yet served up by Golden Earring with a much more hard rock approach throughout! Titles include a side-long workout on "Eight Miles High", which takes up all of side two – plus "One Huge Road", "Everyday's Torture", "Landing", and "Song Of A Devil's Servant". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original Dutch Polydor/Medium pressing. Cover has light wear, a tiny blemish spot at the top right, and is lightly bent at the top left corner and spine.)

Jimi Hendrix ExperienceElectric Ladyland (original cover) ... LP
Track, 1968. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... $199.99
A true classic by Jimi with the original Experience lineup – the third of three straight up masterpiece LPs to come out in just over a year's time by the group! You could call the leftfield astral effects in the mix experimental if you had to – innovations in the studio with echo, that hallucinatory backwards sound effect and other stranger bits – but the passionate, naturally expressive playing and singing by Jimi makes it all fell just right, and the Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell still don't get enough credit for being at the heart of such greatness. A massive 2LP effort that includes "Voodoo Chile", "Crosstown Traffic", "Electric Ladyland", "Little Miss Strange", "Moon Turn The Tides", "Still Raining Still Dreaming" and "All Along The Watchtower". LP, Vinyl record album
(70s auto-coupled UK Polydor pressing. Cover has light ring wear, a few light scrapes and pen imprints, some wear at the corners, small dents at the opening, and is bent a bit at the edges.)

Velvet UndergroundWhite Light/White Heat ... LP
Verve, 1968. Near Mint- ... $29.99 34.99
One of the most far-out, freaked-out albums ever from the Velvet Underground – easily the most experimental set the group ever recorded! The album's awash in really unusual sounds and styles – from the sonic blast of the title cut "White Light/White Heat", to the 17 minute garage/psych jam of "Sister Ray" to the very odd "The Gift" – which is a creepy story about cuckolding, told with voice and instrumentation split over different stereo channels! Other tunes offset the darkness with an eerie touch of sweet – and include "Here She Comes Now", "Lady Godiva's Operation", and "I Heard Her Call My Name". Arguably one of the Velvets' most influential moments – even if it's also one of their least commercially successful! LP, Vinyl record album
(Mid 90s US Polydor reissue in a barcode cover, with minimal wear.)
