Pharaway Sounds (Spain), Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The bass is right out front in the picture of the band on the cover – and it's also right out front in the sound of their music as well – helping to drive the rhythms of this Turkish combo with a rolling sound that's almost funky at times! Bunalim hail from the same Turkish scene as Erkin Koray – and the group's founding bassist also played on Koray's classic Elektronik Turkuler – a record that's quite similar to this one with its mix of Turkish roots, psychedelic roots, and trippy production! And although the group is represented here with material recorded over a 3 year period, with a shifting instrumental lineup – there's still a core sound that's really unified, with plenty of great Andalusian elements in the mix! Titles include "Basak Saclim", "Bunalim", "Tas Var Kopek Yok", "Yollar", "Yeter Artik Kadin", "Guzel", "Ayrilik Olmasaydi", and "Bir Dunya Da Bana Ver". LP, Vinyl record album

Pharaway Sounds (Spain), 1982. Very Good+ ... Just Sold Out!
Heady sounds from Bahrain – recorded in the early 80s by this ultra-cool group who would have been right at home in the European prog scene at the start of the decade before! Drums are heavy, guitar lines are great, and there's some especially cool moogy moments – including some solos that may well be the centerpiece of the album! There's a bit of vocals, but most of the record's got an instrumental appeal that's universal – and which has the same touches of exotic and funky bits that we love in Turkish rock of the early 70s – although maybe with slightly more proggy results overall. Titles include "Sailor On The Seas Of Fate", "Struggle To Survive", "Fantasy", "Embers Of A Flame", "Autumn", and "Paradox In A Major". Includes bonus insert with notes, too! (Global Grooves, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album
(180 gram reissue. Includes insert. Cover is still in the shrink with info sticker.)

Discolando/Pharaway Sounds (Spain), 1977. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Killer work from this Latin funk combo from the 70s – a group who were supposedly formed to open for Santana at a concert in Nicaragua, then went on with a searing legacy of their own! The music definitely owes a bit to the Bay Area Latin sound of the period – a blend of traditional percussion and rhythms with more psychedelic instrumentation – including plenty of great organ lines and guitar, and just the right use of horns as well! About half the album's instrumental, and the vocal tracks feature excellent work from singer Janette Barnes – on titles that include "Valle Del Ayatimbo", "La Taa Yo", "Que Rico", "Atardecer", and "Zumbale". Pharaway Sounds (Spain), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... $32.99 36.99
The completely smoking second album from this legendary Nicaraguan group of the 70s – an album that's even more fully-formed and Latin-styled than their first – served up with long tracks delivered in a stunning blend of percussion, jazzy instrumentation, and just the right touch of rock influences on guitar and keyboards! Where the group's debut maybe echoed the San Francisco style of mixing rock and Latin, this one shows more of the LA funky version of the music – as the group seem to have doubled their chops on their instruments since the previous record – and hardly even need vocals to provide any of the context for the music. Titles include "Chicharron", "Fruta Podrida", "Bacanal 76", "Amanecer Entre Las Hojas", and "Mimo". (Latin, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album

QDK (Germany), Late 60s/Early 70s. Near Mint- Gatefold ... $24.99
Heady sounds from a variety of different scenes – served up here in a compilation that was one of the first to turn western ears onto the sounds of the east! The music is a fuzzy blend of sounds from Southeast Asia, Korea, India, and even Turkey – and the package was one of the first times we'd ever heard some styles that have now become much more common in the psych market – the kind of groundbreaking overseas moments that we love on labels like Guerssen/Pharaway or Finders Keepers! Titles include "Simla Beat Theme" by The Fentones, "Gonul Sabreyle Sabreyle" by 3 Hur El, "26 Miles" by The Quest, "Korean Titel A2" by Jung Hyun & The Men, "Istemem" by Erkin Koray, "Magic Colors" by Teddy Robin & The Playboys, "A2" by Cambodian Rocks, "Blind Bird" by The Mpos, and "You Know What I Mean" by Justin Heathcliff. LP, Vinyl record album
(Early 00s black vinyl pressing.)
