✨✧ DoorsLA Woman (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Elektra, 1971. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Maybe one of our favorite Doors records of all time – if only for the long Fender Rhodes solo by Ray Manzarek on the album's final track, "Riders On The Storm"! Yet the whole album is pretty darn great, too – the last to feature Jim Morrison, who would leave the planet shortly after the album was released! There's a looser, more mature feel to the whole record – still lots of the territory the group had explored on previous albums, but also maybe more relaxed in the studio – knowing when to go for a hook when needed, but also letting some of the tunes really find themselves too. Titles include the hits "Riders On The Storm", "LA Woman", and "Love Her Madly" – plus "The Changeling", "Been Down So Long", "Cars Hiss By My Window", "The WASP", "L'America", and "Hyacinth House". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original 1971 stereo mix remastered on heavyweight vinyl – in a cool die-cut sleeve with yellow see-through image, just like the firs tpressing!)

✨✧ Four SeasonsGenuine Imitation Life Gazette (2024 Record Store Day Release) ... LP
Philips/Rhino, New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A wild little concept album from the Four Seasons – one that's packaged in newspaper-style cover, and which presents tunes that almost have that late 60s British "snapshots of life" approach to pop – particularly that put forth by The Kinks on Village Green Preservation Society. The album's a true genius effort from Bob Gaudio – now risen to the ranks of producer for the group, and also the key songwriter for the album too – working here in tandem with the great Jake Holmes, a wonderful choice for a record like this! Arrangements are inventive, playful, and definitely at a level that shows some influence from Pet Sounds or Sgt Peppers – but there's also a focused, all-pop approach to the tunes too – one that's hook-heavy even when trippy, and which shows that the Four Seasons were as great at psychedelic and Sunshine Pop as any of the groups they'd inspired over the years. Titles include "Saturday's Father", "Wall Street Village Day", "Wonder What You'll Be", "Soul Of A Woman", "Something's On Her Mind", "American Crucifixion Resurrection", and "Mrs Stately's Garden". ✨✧ Benny SingsYoung Hearts ... LP
Stones Throw, 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Benny Sings doesn't look too young on the cover, but his music here really has the youthful spirit promised in the title – a continued refinement of that contemporary soul style that's always made him such a standout in the scene – served up at a level that just seems to get better and better with each new record! The Cali image in the cover gives a hint to the sound on the record – as there's some slight AOR touches in the production, but used in a way that's nice and lean – sharp, but never overdone – which keeps things very intimate with the vocals, and really showcases that strong sense of charisma and hook that Benny brings to his music. Titles include "The Only One", "Distance", "Let's Go", "Movie Star", "Take Your Time", "Pyjamas", "Simple Love Songs", and "Young Hearts". (Neo Soul, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousChild Of Nature ... LP
Forager, Late 70s/Early 80s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A record with a vibe that's as spare and lonely as the image on the cover – a set that features all sorts of really cool underground and indie tracks from the late 70s and early 80s – not punk or new wave music at all, but instead these really obscure, ethereal tunes that are kind of an unusual extension of the loner folk world of the generation before! Yet the music isn't folk at all – sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric – sometimes with looser song structures, but sometimes an occasional hook – recorded with nice currents of darkness that really make the collection work well together as a whole! Titles include "The Lost Road" by Doria, "Silvery Waterfalls" by Luellen Reese, "Child Of Earth", "Animal Talk" by Dana Alberts, "Child Of Nature" by The Key Of Creek, "Is This What You Like" by Terra, and "The Tribe" by The Fred Bloggs Band. ✨✧ BachdenkelLemmings (with bonus tracks) ... LP
Philips/Bonfire (Italy), 1973. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The overlooked debut of Bachdenkel – maybe not the biggest name on the British scene at the start of the 70s, but a group who were initially signed to Philips, and made some really fantastic music! The group are a trio, and it's a bit hard to sum up the quality of the work in easy words – as it's sometimes very personal, but not folksy at all – other times a bit more instrumentally intense, yet not really prog either – always somewhat dark overall, and never trying at all for an easy hook or the kind of track that might have gotten them any sort of radio play at all. The lineup features guitar, organ, and piano from Colin Swinburne – plus drums from Brian Smith, and six string bass from Peter Kimberley – on titles that include "Long Time Living", "Strangerstill", "Come All Ye Faceless", "The Settlement Song", "An Appointment With The Master", and "Translation". 2LP pressing features the bonus tracks "A Thousand Pages Before", "Donna", and "The Slightest Distance". ✨✧ Cabaret VoltaireCrackdown (silver vinyl pressing – with download) ... LP
Mute, 1983. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Lots of layers of sound here – that raw electronic style of early Cabaret Voltaire, mixed with an increasing interest both in found sound samples, including some cool spoken bits – and in elements from a growing global soundscape as well! There's some unusual undercurrents to the music that almost reflect the Brian Eno/David Byrne experiments of the time – with elements that are much more exotic than before. And there's also occasional points that get a bit more tuneful – as if Mallinder or Kirk have finally decided they need a bit of vocals to hook folks into the music – although still at a level that's far from the electro pop of some of their contemporaries. Titles include "Over & Over", "Why Kill Time When You Can Kill Yourself", "Haiti", "Crackdownh", "Animation", and "In The Shadows". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ FruuppModern Masquerades ... LP
Dawn/Long Hair (France), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Great work from a really overlooked group – one who have the skills of a prog act, but some of the sensitivity of a more folksy combo – which maybe is why they were such a perfect fit for the unusual sound of the Dawn label in the UK! These guys clearly have chops – the keyboard and guitar solos certainly testify to that – but they also space things out with some gentler, more personal moments – and here are also maybe a bit more hook-heavy than in the past, with a sense of almost crossing over with a few key cuts on the set. One of the catchiest numbers here is the great "Janet Planet", which has really cool production from Ian McDonald, who brings out all the best elements in the tune – and other titles include "Gormenghast", "Misty Morning Way", "Sheba's Song", "Mystery Might", and "Why". ✨✧ UndertonesUndertones (green vinyl pressing) ... LP
BMG, 1979. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of the tightest, sharpest records of the late 70s punk years in the British Isles – a set that's got all the same hook-heavy power of the Buzzcocks on Singles Going Steady – with song after song that seem almost effortless – very punky, but extremely catchy too – at a level that also has the record rivaling some of the best classics by The Ramones as well! The whole thing's a treasure – and titles include "Family Entertainment", "Male Model", "Teenage Kicks", "Jump Boys", "Here Comes The Summer", "Get Over You", "Jimmy Jimmy", "(She's A) Runaround", "I Know A Girl", and "Listening In". B-52sCosmic Thing ... LP
Warner, 1989. New Copy (reissue)... $22.99 24.99
The album that really broke the B52s out of the box – the one that took them from being an underground favorite in the clubs and the party scene, to being the kind of group that finally got the exposure they deserved! Of course, some of the help here comes from superproducers Nile Rodgers and Don Was – who really help the group focus on their hooks and crossover groove – all summed up perfectly on the album's hit "Love Shack" – a tune that still gets heavy play around the globe all these many years later. Other tracks include "Roam", "Channel Z", "Cosmic Thing", "Dry Country", "Topaz", "Follow Your Bliss", and "Bushfire". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ DevoFreedom Of Choice (colored vinyl pressing) ... LP
Warner/Rhino, 1980. New Copy (reissue)... $19.99 23.99
The era that catapulted cult heroes Devo into pop culture history – with bubblier synths, catchier hooks, and crazier multimedia shenanigans than ever before from these pioneers of the video era – and time capsule pop angle aside, it's still one of the best and most innovate albums of its time! It's pretty hard to imagine the early 80s without Devo, but the group and this record is just as amazing decades later, since there was never anyone else like them! Includes "Girl U Want", "It's Not Right", "Whip It", "Freedom Of Coice", "Cold War", "Don't You Know", "Gates Of Steel" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

MissfitsMeet The Missfits EP ... 7-inch
Ace (UK), Mid 60s. New Copy (pic cover)... $11.99 16.99
Never-issued work by a very groovy group – a British female quintet who first started out in skiffle, but turned into a pretty rocking outfit by the time of these tracks – material that was recorded in the mid 60s, but unreleased for over 50 years until the recent rediscovery of the tapes! The EP features an especially great tune on John Lee Hooker's "Dimples", done in a spare raw style – and the group continue in soulful territory on takes of "What'd I Say", "You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover", and "I'm Talking About You". 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Labi SiffreRemember My Song ... LP
EMI/Mr Bongo (UK), 1975. New Copy (reissue)... $25.99
Easily the best-remembered album by Labi Siffre – thanks to some well-used sample tracks over the years! But over and above the fame of the funky tunes "The Vulture" and "I Got The", the record's a key part of Siffre's 70s catalog – a record that's as great for its complex songwriting and deeply personal lyrics as it is for its Fender Rhodes lines, and tight musical backings from the combo of Big Jim Sullivan. All titles here are originals, and even when the groove slows down there's a depth that clearly marks Labi as one of the best singer/songwriters of the 70s – a talent who's been finally rediscovered in recent years, although sometimes only remembered for a few jazzy hooks from these tunes, and not the strength of the whole magilla! Here's your chance to dip into the Siffre sound at its fullest – on tracks that include "The Vulture", "I Got The", "Another Year", "Down", "Old Time Song", "Sadie & The Devil", "Remember My Song", and "Turn On Your Love". ✨✧ Biting TonguesLive It Up ... LP
New Hormones/Cache Cache (UK), 1982. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Great early work from Biting Tongues – a group who gave Factory Records a few great singles in the mid 80s, but who are heard here a few years before – on an album that was only issued on cassette at the time! We've always loved these guys – and they've got a way of mixing the punk/funk of A Certain Ratio with some of the moodier currents of the Manchester scene – touched also by lots of great lines on trumpet and tenor sax, the latter of which almost gives their music some Blurt-like qualities! Yet the rhythms also move more in the cold wave mode – which mixes with the horns and live percussion to create a very cool blend – on titles that include "Denture Beach", "Read This", "Unhook That Boy", "Forty Three", "Evening State", "Or With Eyes Closed", and "Reflector". ✨✧ Led ZeppelinLed Zeppelin (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Atlantic, 1969. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of the most monumental debuts in rock history – a record that hit the world like a led zeppelin, and left an impression for years to come! Led Zeppelin pretty much took over rock right from the beginning – which isn't too surprising, given that Jimmy Page had an in-demand guitar heavy for years already – but the power of this debut is still astonishing after all these years – a blistering blend of bluesy roots, psych fuzz, and razor-sharp instrumental dexterity! The whole thing's a gem – and titles include "Good Times Bad Times", "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" "You Shook Me", "Dazed And Confused", "Your Time Is Gonna Come", "Black Mountain Side", and "I Can't Quit You Baby". ✨✧ Mazzy StarSo Tonight That I Might See ... LP
Capitol, 1993. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Mazzy Star's second album and first for Capitol, one of those rare, wonderful moments in the early 90s when a band that had been bubbling just under the popular radar hooked up with a major label and managed to hit both a popular and creative peak! This one really hasn't aged a day since it came out. The songwriting pair of guitarist David Roback and Hope Sandoval – the former transcending pop psych influences as far back as the early 80s in The Rain Parade, the latter with one of the most hauntingly beautiful voices in rock at the time – put together their best, moodiest effort. Includes the breakout hit "Fade Into You", a cool cover of Arthur Lee & Love's then recent "Five String Serenade", "Blue Light", "She's My Baby", "Wasted", "Into Dust", "So Tonight That I Might See", "Mary Of Silence", "Unreflected" and "Bells Ring".
