✨✧ Ian Carr's NucleusExit 1971 ... LP
678 Records (Netherlands), 1971. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Never-issued work from this legendary fusion group – a 1971 live performance recorded in Rotterdam, and a set of tracks that's a perfect complement to the legendary Nucleus albums issued by Vertigo at the time! Leader Ian Carr is upfront on trumpet – but as with the best Nucleus recordings, this is definitely an all-out group affair – driven by very strong work from John Marshall on drums and Roy Babbington on bass – and filled with work from two different simultaneous electric pianos, handled by both Hywel Thomas and Karl Jenkins, the latter of whom also blows a bit of oboe. Other reeds are from Brian Smith on tenor, soprano sax, and flute – and all tracks are nice and long, and often quite funky – with titles that include "Snakehips Dream", "We'll Talk About It Later", "Song For The Bearded Lady", "Exit Interlude 1", "Persephone's Jive", "Exit Interlude 2", and "Oasis". (Jazz, Rock) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Serpent PowerSerpent Power ... LP
Vanguard, 1967. Very Good+ ... $119.99
An incredible record from the glory days of the Vanguard Records psych scene – a really unique album by a group who manages to be thoughtful and trippy at the same time! David Meltzer handles all the songwriting and guitar, and shares lead vocals with Tina Meltzer – on titles that include "Don't You Listen To Her", "Gently Gently", "Sky Baby", "Forget", "Dope Again", "Endless Tunnel", and "Up & Down". LP, Vinyl record album
(Gold label Stereo pressing. Cover has a small split on the bottom seam and light wear.)

✨✧ Mason WilliamsMason Williams Phonograph Record ... LP
Warner, Late 60s. Very Good+ ... $2.99
Amazing stuff – one of those records you see for years, and always pass by – but which yields some real surprises once you dig in! Mason Williams is one of the cooler cats in the Warner Brothers stable of the late 60s – but he's also one of the more subtle, too – a folkie at heart, but an artist with a really great sense of wit, warmth, and variety – very much in the best genre-stepping style of the Burbank scene of the time. The set features, of course, Mason's huge hit "Classical Gas" – an instrumental you'll recognize instantly – but next to that is the sublime "Baroque A Nova", a very cool scatting harmony track that's like some lost late 60s Hugo Montenegro gem – and the camp psych gem "The Prince's Panties" – done with all the wit of late 60s Warner – as is the whole album! Other tracks include "Wanderlove", "Overture", "All The Time", and "She's Gone Away". LP, Vinyl record album
(Green label stereo pressing. Cover has surface wear, edge wear, and a name in pen.)
