Righteous sounds from
Ras Michael and The
Sons Of Negus – easily one
of the most powerful groups
of the rastafari years in reggae! The album's got a very deep feel right from the start – not just because the lyrics and vocals are very powerful, but also because the group features a strong ensemble
of nyabinghi drummers, who help take the music back to pre-reggae roots with their performance – which is mixed here with more familiar basslines and guitar that mark the mid 70s recording
of the tunes. Production is by Tommy Cowan, who keeps things stripped-down enough to really let the core spirit
of the music show through – and the tracks have achieved legendary status over the years, thanks both to their political power and purity
of spirit. Titles include "Truth & Right", "Mr Brown", "None A Jah Jah Children", "Mr Wicked Man", "Give Love", "Booma Yeah", "No Hoppers", and "Zion Land".
