✨✧ Vinnie BellGood Morning Starshine ... LP
Decca, Late 60s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Groovy studio electric guitar tracks with orchestra, played by the master, Vinnie Bell. Vinnie plays a number of groovy pop cuts from the late 60's, like "If We Only Had Time", "Aquarius", "Good Morning Starshine", "Les Bicyclettes De Belsize", and "Hey Jude", with a nice easy groovy feel. Some of the other cuts are standards, but they're given the Bell twist, with a late 60's pop feel to them. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Peter DuchinComin' Home Baby ... LP
Bell, Early 70s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Great album of jazzy studio tracks, recorded in Bell's NY studios with Eric Gale, Pretty Purdie, and some other funky players. Duchin plays electric keyboards with a good pop soul jazz sound – a bit like some of the studio soul jazz coming out of LA during the late 60s, but with a bit more of an edge. There's some straighter jazz tracks, like versions of "Moanin" and "Senor Blues", plus some groovy originals, and a few covers. Very nice, and hard to find. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Artie ButlerHave You Met Miss Jones? ... LP
A&M, 1968. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A very cool early set from CTI Records – one that has funky arranger Artie Butler playing piano and ondioline with a host of great jazz players – including Herbie Hancock on piano, David Carey on vibes, Jerome Richardson on flute, Romeo Penque on flute and soprano, Vince Bell on guitar, and Eddie Bert on trombone! The whole thing has that perfect blend of easy scoring and funky jazz that you find on the best early A&M/CTI albums – and it includes lots of nice cuts like "The Loop", "Max's Brazilian What", "In The Heat Of The Night", and "Music for Night People". ✨✧ Ferrante & TeicherFerrante & Teicher With Percussion ... LP
ABC, 1958. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Another one of their crazy LPs, which are sometimes hard to find amidst the pop stuff they normally did. This one's got them doing some originals and some standards, augmented by a tight little ensemble of three percussionists and one bassist. The added instruments drive their piano stuff – which is already percussive enough, what with weird keys and mallet designs – into a driving new dimension. 12 tracks in all, including "Che Si Dice", "Va Va Voom", "Aflame", "Parade Of The Bobbies", "Cielito Lindo", "Beyond The Blue Horizon", "Three O'Clock In The Morning" and "The Nearness Of You". MarkettsOut Of Limits! ... LP
Warner, Mid 60s. Very Good+ ... $16.99
The title track's a mighty big hit for The Marketts – and it's also a great way to describe the group's talent for pushing past their boundaries at the time! The sound is surf instrumental at the core – but really stretches out to space themes, soundtrack areas, and more – thanks to inventive arrangements from Ray Pohlman, who pushes these guys farther than the usual groups of the time – while still keeping that guitar instrumental style that made them so great overall! There's a lot more variety to the tunes than you'd hear on a Ventures album, for example – and beautiful Bones Howe engineering makes sure that the sound is top-shelf throughout! Titles include the group's big hit reading of "Out Of Limits", plus "Bell Star", "Saturn", "Re-Entry", "Other Limits", "Twilight City", and "Limits Beyond". (Rock, Now Sound) LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono grey label vitaphonic pressing. Cover has a split bottom seam, light wear, and a bit of light staining on the back.)
