✨✧ VariousMotown Remixed Vol 1 EP – Hip Hop ... LP
Motown/Universal, 2005. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The first volume in the Motown Remixed project – and a vinyl EP that features 4 strong hip hop tracks! The sound here is a lot more soul-based than you'd expect – and really mostly just takes the older tunes and pumps them up with some more contemporary beats and bass, while still keeping the regular vocals in place – a good move in our book! Titles include "I Want You Back (Z-Trip rmx)" by Jackson 5, "I Heard It Through The Grapevine (Randy Watson Experience mix)" by Gladys Knight & The Pips, "ABC (Salaam Remi extended krunk-a-delic party mix)" by Jackson 5, and "Smiling Faces Sometimes (Futureshock main ingredient mix)" by Undisputed Truth. Also contains Z-Trip bonus beats! (Funky Compilations, New Grooves) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Jackson 5Soul Source – Jackson 5 Remixes ... LP
Motown/Universal (Japan), Early 70s. Near Mint- 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
What a great idea! The classic Motown work of The Jackson 5 is remixed and remade by a host of super-hip producers! The cuts really retain a lot of their Motown soul flavor, and the remixers do an excellent job of pulling out some of the best elements – like guitar riffs, piano lines, and drumbeats – while still preserving the original vocal direction of the songs. The new versions of the tracks are equally great – like Monday Michiru's version of "I Wanna Be Where You Are", which has sweet vocals from Monday, and some great Fender Rhodes work! Titles include "It's Great To Be Here" remixed by Kenny Dope, "ABC" redone Kayoko Kimura & The Fireflys, "Hum Along & Dance" remixed by United Future Organization, "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Shinichi Osawa, "I'll Be There" remixed by Small Circle Of Friends, and "I Want You Back" remixed by Kei Kobayoshi. (Soul, New Grooves) LP, Vinyl record album
(Rare vinyl pressing – heavy cover and vinyl! Includes original hype sticker too. A great copy.)

✨✧ Michael Jackson/Jackon 5Hiroshi Fujiwara & KUDO Present Michael Jackson/Jackson 5 Remixes ... LP
Motown/Universal (Japan), Early 70s/2010. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A great entry in the world of Jackson 5 remix material – a hip set of Japanese work put together by Hiroshi Fujiwara & KUDO – with a nicely different vibe than previous efforts of this nature! The remixes have a slightly dubby quality, but are mostly focused around the familiar structure of the original tunes – nicely using mellow basslines and laidback Jamaican rhythms to add some really fresh flavors to the work of the Jacksons – in ways that are quite different than some of the other, more energetic remixes out there at the moment. Includes remixes of "We've Got A Good Thing Going", "Never Can Say Goodbye", "Happy", "Love Song", "I Want You Back", "With A Child's Heart", "I'll Be There", and "All I Do Is Think Of You". (Soul, New Grooves) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ JazzanovaOf All The Things ... CD
Verve, 2008. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A tremendous step forward for Jazzanova – an album that's overflowing with classic soul touches, and done in a style we'd hardly have expected from the group a few years before! Jazzanova have always had an ear for older sounds in their music – which is something that first set them apart from the dancefloor pack – but this album's a really amazing achievement, and one that's put together with the solid sound of some lost late 60s sessions from Motown at points – or with some of the cooler sounds of European jazz of the 70s! There's still a 21st Century vibe to the music – a bit of crackle here and there that marks it as contemporary – but the backings also have tight orchestrations, occasional strings, and that perfectly put-together quality that still makes us marvel at old soul and jazz records after all these years. Vocals are sublime too – as the album features contributions from Phonte, Paul Randolph, Ben Westbeech, Jose James, Dwele, Bembe Segue, and Leon Ware – all of whom fit in perfectly, without any of the sort of random "vocals with sound system" feel you might get in another album of this type. Most tracks are co-written with the vocalist – which is an even hipper touch that ensures a depth of quality – and titles include "Gafiera", "Lucky Girl", "Little Bird", "I Can See", "Look What You're Doin To Me", "Let Me Show Ya", "Lie", and "So Far From Home" – plus a great cover of "Rockin You Eternally".
