The title gets this one right – as the album's a dreamy batch of instrumental tunes, the kind we'd love to hear coming out of the speakers in our supermarket! As with the group's other work, this album by the Lindberg Hemmer Foundation takes a retro twist – dipping back into a 60s easy bossa mode, blending organ and electric bass, plus a bit of moog – into simple, yet compelling tunes that recall the glory days of French soundtracks, Brazilian summers, and Italian coffee. A real gem all the way through – and one you'll be storming the Safeway just to get to the masses! Titles include "Frank Of Denmark", "Uhm Snacks", "The Buy Buy Song", "Full Auto", and "Party At Tony's Beach". CD

One of the best retro-modern groups we've heard in years – a very groovy combo who really know their bag! The approach here is steeped in 60s references – Hammond organ grooving with guitar, percussion, horns, and some sweet female vocals – the whole thing swinging with the energy of a hip soundtrack from the glory days! As proof of that, the group perform 2 great covers – Ray Brown's "Polo Pony" and Gert Wilden's "Sexy Girls" – but even their own tracks are pretty great, and include the groovy "Bon Voyage" and "Tango Pornographie". A jazzy trio, and one with lots of cosmic inclinations – which is maybe no surprise, given that drummer Tommaso Cappellato has played on some great club tracks in recent years! Here, though, he's recording in LA in a combo with Tony Martin on bass and Diego Gaeta on keyboards – the latter of whom brings in all sorts of great phrasing to the set – almost handling the keys at times as if he's blowing a reed instrument, with a real smoothness of flow – offset by other moments that are more punctuated next to the drums. A record with a very vintage-styled cover, but a set that's contemporary overall – jazzy work from Daniel Ogren, who plays all the instruments pictured around him on the cover – mixed with some occasional vocals from Anna Ahnlund, plus live drums and keyboards that almost hit a clubby sort of vibe at times! The record's got a sound that's really hard to peg – not really right for our jazz section, or new grooves – but certainly not rock, and not really global – although global elements clearly influence some of the rhythms on the record too. Most tunes have a melody that warms things up out of the darker corners of the rhythms – and titles include "Picasso", "Levi", "Hjalmarsfjorden", "Idag", "April", "Oktober", and "Annalena (album version)".
