Hiatus KaiyoteMood Valiant ... CD
Brainfeeder, 2021. New Copy ... $12.99 13.99
Hiatus Kaiyote are one of those groups that just seem to grow and grow with each new about – a strongly soulful act at their start, but one who've found a way to carve out sounds and styles that are very much their own – maybe almost making themselves a genre in the process! Things here are both cosmic and crispy, heaven-bound and earthy, in this mix of electro-acoustic energy that perfectly fits the vocals of Nai Palm, and the pulsating energy from the rest of the group – funky, but in footprints that are far from the conventional – future soul writ large, glowing with new inspiration and energy. Titles include "Get Sun", "And We Go Gentle", "Sip Into Something Soft", "All the Words We Don't Say", "Stone Or Lavender", "Sparkle Tape Break Up", and "Blood & Marow". (New Grooves, Neo Soul) CD

ThundercatGolden Age Of Apocalypse (with bonus tracks – translucent red vinyl pressing) (2021 Black Friday Release) ... LP
Brainfeeder, 2011. New Copy ... Just Sold Out!
One of the great modern genre-busting debuts we've had the pleasure of being so stunned by in quite a while! Thundercat's Golden Age is dizzyingly brilliant mix of 80s clubby synths and keys, future soul & funky soundscapes, 70s soul jazzy atmospherics and more – but it's hardly a mere genre-mash, Thundercat's got a unique and inventive vision all his own. A number of tracks feature vocals, but it's really about the mood – and what an expansive mood it is! He shows love here for influential figures from George Duke to Brainfeeder honcho Flying Lotus, to Erykah Badu – great stuff and we're thinking he's only gonna get better from here. Titles include "Hooooooo" (inspired by mid 70s George Duke), "Daylight", "For Love I Come", "Jamboree", "Boat Cruise", "Walkin", "Mystery Machine", "Return To The Journey", "Golden Boy", "Walkin'" (feat Erykah Badu) and more. (New Grooves, Neo Soul) LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited ediiton 10th anniversary red vinyl pressing – with 2 bonus tracks, deluxe foil packaging & holographic sticker.)

ThundercatIt Is What It Is ... CD
Brainfeeder, 2020. New Copy ... $12.99 13.99
A tremendous album from Thundercat – an artist who just seems to get better and better with every new record, and who's maybe here defining a genre that's completely unto himself! The record is soulful, and has a lot of contemporary cosmic currents – but it's also more far-reaching and fluid than anything that Thundercat's ever given us before – still done with key help from Flying Lotus, but with a majestic, confident quality that seems to have the duo ready to take over the universe! The airy soulful vocals are great, but the rhythms and instrumentation are maybe even more compelling – as there's a number of tunes here that are almost impossible to describe in words, even though they're instantly appealing and wonderfully soulful – a balance that's the sort of special genius from an artist who's ready to write himself into the pop music history books with a key release like this. There's a whole host of guests – including Ty Dolla Sign, Childish Gambino, Louis Cole, Kamasi Washington, Badbadnotgood, Miguel Atwood Ferguson, and many others – but it's clear that the Thundercat/Flying Lotus axis holds all the power – on titles that include "Fair Chance", "Funny Thing", "How Sway", "Miguel's Happy Dance", "Lost In Space/Great Scott/22-26", "Interstellar Love", "Overseas", "Dragonball Durag", "King Of The Hill", and "Existential Dread". (New Grooves, Neo Soul) CD

✨✧ Hiatus KaiyoteCanopic Jar EP (fluorescent green vinyl pressing) ... 12-inch
Brainfeeder, 2021. New Copy (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
That's a spooky cover on this single from Hiatus Kaiyote – and they definitely bring some of that energy to the title tune "Canopic Jar" – a track that begins with a bit of a horror introduction, and moves into some of the eeriest funky soul we've heard from the group! The tune's got a great heavy drum breakdown in the middle, peppered by vocal shrieks – and preceded by the cool intro track "Journey To The Crystal Tomb" – the followed by an instrumental and acapella track too. (New Grooves, Neo Soul) 12-inch, Vinyl record
