✨✧ VariousDJ Qbico Plays Panama 45s ... LP
Siren (Italy), 1960s. Near Mint- ... $34.99
Rare 45s from Panama, all hand-picked by DJ Qbico – and presented together in a fast-moving set of grooves! Most of these tracks are pretty upbeat, and most have lively percussion, guitar, and accordion in the instrumentation – with a vibe that's perhaps closest to Colombian music of the time, but also a bit different, too – especially in the way the vocals often soar out from the rhythms. Quite compelling, and titles include "Mi General" by Pejo Barrio Y Su Conjunto, "Bang Bang Lulu" by AL Funky BArrett, "El Barquito" by Leroy Gittens Con Oscar Reid Y Su Combo, "Voy A Llorar" by Los Speriores, "Saying Goodbye" by Little Francisco Greaves, "Llamarada" by HErmanos Duncan, and "Haria Todo Por Ti" by Carlitos. ✨✧ Pucho & His Latin Soul BrothersPucho's Descarga (aka Jungle Strut) ... LP
Andale, 1993. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A great lost album from Pucho & The Latin Soul Brothers – not classic vintage, despite the front cover image, but an excellent session from the early 90s that still has Pucho very much at the top of his game! The album's way heavier than some of Pucho's other material from the period – and only got slight circulation under the title Jungle Strut – as a record that really returns to the vibe of early 70s funky Prestige Records –w ith work from the legendary Pazant Brothers on horns, plus Melvin Sparks on guitar, Willie Bivens on vibes, and Bernard Purdie on drums! The sound is great – nice and raw, with a real emphasis on Purdie's funk – and titles include "Strange Thing", "Got Myself A Good Man", "Pucho's Descarga", "Soul Sauce", and "Bang Bang Lulu".
