Not really a "Broadway" album, as you might guess from the title – although Tito and group do play a version of the soul hit "On Broadway" on the set – but a nicely-honed set with a strong Latin jazz groove, much more back to basics than some of Tito's work from the 70s. Players include Ray Gonzales, Jorge Dalto, Afredo De La Fe, and Jerry Gonzales – and tracks include versions of Freddie Hubbard's "First Light", Milton Nascimento's "Soul Song", and Toots Thieleman's "Bluesette" – as well as the originals "Jo Je Ti" and "TP's Especial". Pucho and the gang hit the seventies, and lay down some hard Latin funk in a very blacksploitation mode! The centerpiece of the album is a 15 minute medley of three tunes from Superfly – "Superfly", "Pusherman", and "Freddie's Dead" – all sewn together with a soulful electric groove that's a nice extension from the band's earlier style on Prestige. The Pazant Brothers are still in full force on the horns, and the album features other great work on electric piano, congas, flute, electric guitar, and vibes. The track "S'cusa S'cuas (Why)" features vocals by Marilyn Johnson – and other nice ones include "Judy's Moods", "One More Day", and "Oak Hursts Art". LP, Vinyl record album

Latin soul percussionist Willie Bobo hits a new dimension here – singing as well as playing timbales, hitting a groovy groove that's perfect for his rough and ready vocals! The track list is a mix of 60s soul covers and a few very tasty original tunes – all done in a mod style that's right up there with the best sound of Verve at the end of the 60s. The players on the record are great – with Latin and jazz talents that include Sonny Henry, Freddie Waits, Jimmy Owens, and Victor Pantoja – grooving in tight combo format to support Willie's vocal efforts. The group's fifth album – in case you couldn't guess by the title – and a still-strong batch of west coast Latin grooves! By this point, the group's become much more proficient vocally – and more of the songs are soul oriented than some of their earlier work, which tended to lean a bit more towards the jazz end of things. Playing's still quite funky, though – and the whole thing's got a nice bubbling over barrio kind of groove.
