✨✧ Beastie BoysIn Sound From Way Out! ... LP
Grand Royal/Universal, 1996/1998. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The Beasties' peak-era, retro-style instrumentals LP! Even at their weakest vocal moments, we've always dug the Beastie Boys' firm commitment to funky instrumental backing – their albums are filled with lots of nice interludes, instrumentals, and backing grooves – but they often seemed to get buried amidst all the bugged out vocals. The record kind of has the vibe of a lost jazz organ session, with lots of weird twists and turns thrown in, and all the better thanks to Money Mark, pretty much a 4th Beastie here! A cool bit of instrumental funk with a very classic production feel. Every track's a winner, and the titles include "Ricky's Theme", "Groove Holmes", "Sabrosa", "In 3's", "Transitions", "Bobo On the Corner", and "Shambala". LP, Vinyl record album

Def Jam/Universal (Italy), 2002. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... Out Of Stock
The classic single! "X Gon' Give It To Ya" kicks of loudly but loose, a horns and a growly intro from DMX before falling into that steady beat and DMX balancing wild energy and on beat control. We paired with the equally huge "Party Up" (Up Here)" on the flip. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(15th Anniversary pressing!)

✨✧ Eric B & RakimLet The Rhythm Hit Em (2LP version) ... LP
MCA/Universal, 1990. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The third album from Eric B & Rakim – absolute classic MC/DJ duo hip hop and maybe their most solid from beginning end, as impossible as that should've been after high bars they set with Paid In Full & Follow The Leader! By this point, Rakim was firmly established as one of hip hop's greatest rhymers, but he still steps to a higher level here, with a more forceful approach on some grittier material and his trademark cool and measured flow on others. "Let The Rhythm Hit Em" and "In The Ghetto" strong enough to call this a classic on their majesty alone, but this one's got one should-be standout track after another including "Mahogany", "No Omega", "Keep Em Eager To Listen", "Step Back", "Run For Cover" and more. Lil WayneFuneral ... LP
Universal/Republic, 2020. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... $31.99 35.99
The album's no funeral for Lil Wayne – and instead it's a bit of a rebirth, the kind of set that not only shows the world that Weezy's alive and well – but he's also not going anywhere anytime soon! The pace really picks up on a number of these tracks – maybe showing more youth and vitality than we might have expected – and Lil Wayne more than holds his own in a large group of guests, with contributions from Big Sean, Lil Baby, Jay Rock, Takeoff, 2Chainz, OT Genasis, XXXTentacion, and Adam Levine. Titles include "Funeral", "Dreams", "Wayne's World", "Not Me", "Bing James", "Trust Nobody", "Stop Playin With Me", "Wild Dogs", "Know You Know", "I Don't Sleep", "Bastard", "Get Outta My Head", and "Sights & Silencers". ✨✧ PharrellIn My Mind ... LP
Star Trak/Universal, 2006. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... Just Sold Out!
Pharrell's first solo album – finally issued after months of anticipation between the release of the first single and a oft-delayed street date, time enough to wonder which Pharrell would take the lead – the electro-thumping, hip hop revisionist producer with the laidback rhymes, or the Curtis Mayfield vocal style-inspired, sex-obsessed pop crooner – and it turns out we get both in just about equal measure! What's surprising after all these years is how well it holds up. Tracks include "Can I Have It Like That" feat Gwen Stefani, "How Does It Feel?", "Raspy S**t", "Best Friend", "You Can Do It Too", "Keep It Playa" feat Slim Thug, "That Girl" feat Snoop Dogg, "Angel", "Young Girl/I Really Like You" feat Jay Z, "Stay With Me" feat Pusha T, "Easy" feat Nelly, "Number One" feat Kanye West and more. Q TipRenaissance ... LP
Universal/Motown, 2008. New Copy 2LP ... $18.99 29.98
A damn good record by Q-Tip – his first official album of the new millenium (not counting the unfairly mooted Kamaal The Abstract) – featuring both spacey keyboard grooves and some Native Tongues style boom bap! Q-Tip really does kind of pick up where he could have left off years ago, and it's a reward of our faith in him that it's still fresh after all these years, without drastically altering the formula. The key may be the focus – it's a filler free affair with solid track after solid track. Q-Tip handles most of the production – utilizing a bed of deep samples, groovy keys and head nodding beats. Q-Tip is in fine, relaxed form here, nothing left to prove. Here's hoping he records more often from here on on out! Titles include "Johnny Is Dead", "Won't Trade" (a should be classic single), "Getting' Up", "Official", "You", "We Fight/We Love" feat Raphael Saadiq, "Move", "Dance On Glass", "Life Is Better" feat Norah Jones, , "Believe" feat D'Angelo, "Shaka" and more.
