✨✧ Geto BoysTill Death Do Us Part ... CD
Rap-A-Lot/Priority, 1993. Used ... Out Of Stock
An early 90s effort from Houston gangsta rap pioneers The Geto Boys! This one features Big Mike in the place of recently departed MC Willie D, and while earlier Geto Boys records might've set the expections bar pretty high for this one live up to, it holds up pretty strongly. After all these years, it's one we've never been able to keep in the racks for very long – clearly it's legacy is pretty sound! Titles include "Street Life", "Murder Avenue", "Six Feet Deep", "No Nuts No Glory", "Crooked Officer", and "GETO". CD

✨✧ Masta AceLong Hot Summer ... LP
M3, 2004. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A great little album from Masta Ace – part of his early-millennium comeback moment! Ace caught us off guard with his damn strong Disposable Arts LP – which immediately went on our short list of all time best hip hop comeback LPs, along with Slick Rick's Art Of Storytelling – and he mines some of the same lyrical territory on this album – with some straight up, no BS storytelling in which he contemplates his status as one of hip hop's true pioneers, a near legend in his own medium who nevertheless has to deal with day jobs and bills! There's also some more common street hop stuff, but Ace that pretty deftly – on titles that include "Big City", "Good Ol' Love", "Da Grind", "Beautiful", "Soda & Soap", "The Ways", "Wutuwankno", "Oh My God", and "Revelations". ✨✧ Shabazz PalacesQuazarz – Born On A Gangster Star ... CD
Sub Pop, 2017. Used ... Out Of Stock
Shabazz Palaces takes spacey hip hop further out then they've every done before, while still somehow holding ground in hazy, headnodding beats and rhymes – delivering 2 separate albums loosely centered around a cosmic character called Quazarz! Far out as concept is and as thickly atmospheric as the vocals are record, Born On A Gangster Star and Quazarz Vs The Jealous Machines still manage to come across as some of the most immediately accessible music the duo have recorded to date – but still a far murkier, moodier outer space experience than Ishmael Butler's pioneering legendary work with jazz rap pioneers Digable Planets or the underrated Cherrywine. Includes "Since CAYA", "When Cats Claw", "Shine A Light" feat Thaddillac, "Deese Du Sang", "Eel Dreams" feat Loud Eyes Lou, "Parallax" feat The Palaceer Lazaro, "The Neurchem Mixalogue", "That's How City Life Goes", "Moon Whip Quaz" feat Darrius and "Federalist Papers".
