✨✧ DabryeAdditional Productions Vol 1 ... CD
Ghostly International, Used ... Out Of Stock
Dabrye does his digital dub re-manipulation minimalization on a number of tracks by different artists. We could live without the Beans track "Nite Eats Day", but on most of the cuts his heart is in the right pocket. Check his job on Nomo's "Not Wisely/Too Well" & his live version of "Hyped Up Plus Tax". Other tracks include remixes of "Infinite Wavelength" by Trans Am, "Angel Beat" by Ill Sound, and "Monstertruckdriver" bby T Raumschmiere. CD

Danny BrownQuaranta ... CD
Warp, 2024. New Copy ... $14.99 15.99
Maybe the deepest, darkest album ever recorded by Danny Brown – a set done at a time when the rapper was at a personal crossroads, and responded to some changes in his life with some incredibly powerful tracks! The production feels more textured and layered than some of Danny's other albums – and the lyrics open up in ways that are very personal, but very sharply pointed as well – echoed by key contributions from Kassa Overall, Mike, and Bruiser Wolf along the way! Titles include "Tantor", "Shakedown", "Hanami", "Bass Jam", "Down Wit It", "Celibate", "Jenn's Terrific Vacation", "YBP", and "Dark Sword Angel". CD
Also available Quaranta (red vinyl pressing) ... LP 26.99

✨✧ RootsHow I Got Over ... CD
Def Jam, 2010. Used ... Out Of Stock
A less tense and caustic Roots than the crew that hit us on the majority of Rising Down a couple years earlier – and this one's as strong of an album as they've delivered since moving over to Def Jam. In truth, we were a little scared when we saw some of the guests credited – Monsters Of Folk, John Legend, Joanna Newsom and other headscratchers on top of more likely collaborators such as Phonte, Blu, Peedi Peedi and Dice Raw – unfounded worry, it turns out, as this set gets over very, very well! How I Got Over is a Roots effort through and through, with contemplative and soulful tracks that simmer and stew in tried and true fashion. The songs with those indie rock guests turn out to be among the Roots-iest tracks on the record. Believe that! So you can rest easy, the Roots are The Roots here, just what we wanted and just what we get! Includes "A Peace Of Light" feat Amber Coffman, Angel Deradoorian & Haley Dekle, "Walk Alone" feat Truck North, PORN & Dice Raw, "Now Or Never" with Phonte & Dice Raw, "Dear God 2.0" with Monsters Of Folk, "The Day" feat Blu, Phonte & Patty Crash, "Doin It Again", "Tunnel Vision" and more. ✨✧ Run The JewelsRun The Jewels 2 ... CD
Mass Appeal, 2014. Used ... Out Of Stock
The second round from the Run The Jewels supergroup duo of El-P & Killer Mike – bigger, bolder and better than the debut! The production is more densely layered and the rhymes are meaner – especially Killer Mike's limber, charismatic flow, which served so strongly by El-P's progressive, classic boom bap-inspired production – and El-P is no slouch on the mic, either! The guests bring their A games, too – and the titles include "Jeopardy", "Oh My Darling Don't Cry", "Close Your Eyes" with Zach De la Rocha, "Lie, Cheat, Steal", "Early" feat Boots, "Love Again (Akinyele Back)", "Crown" feat Diane Coffee, "Angel Duster" and more. ✨✧ WeekndDawn FM ... LP
Republic, 2021. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A real surprise from The Weeknd – and we don't just mean that because the album was dropped on the public with no announcement beforehand! The record's also a great evolution of the sound that's gotten such wide attention in a surprisingly short span of time – a bit of a concept album, in that the set's conceived as some alternate-universe sort of radio listen, complete with spoken bits from Jim Carrey at certain points – all helped out with production work from Max Martin and Oneohtrix Point Never! Tyler The Creator makes one wonderful guest appearance, but the set's definitely guided by The Weeknd's maturing genius throughout – on titles that include "Don't Break My Heart", "How Do I Make You Love Me", "Every Angel Is Terrifying", "Take My Breath", "Gasoline", "I Heard You're Married", "Less Than Zero", and "Best Friends". (Neo Soul, Hip Hop) LP, Vinyl record album
