Baby Huey & The BabysittersMighty Mighty Children (parts 1 & 2) (Radio Active pressing) ... 7-inch
Radio Active, 1969. Very Good+ ... Just Sold Out!
Classic soul from Chicago! The 300-pound Baby Huey was one of the city's premier party acts in the old days, and this single – his cover of the rollicking Curtis Mayfield tune (which was later done by Chicago soul descendents Earth, Wind & Fire) – is one of his best! The two-part track has a rolling party funk groove, with production by Curtis, and arrangements by Donny Hathaway! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Radio Active sleeve with light wear & pen.)

✨✧ CortexPsychose/Oh Lord (radio edit) ... 7-inch
Trad Vibe (France), 1977. New Copy (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
A rare bit of soundtrack funk from Cortex – originally done for a late 70s film, but unreleased at the time – in part because the film was destroyed in a fire! The tune is great – very much in the funkiest mode of this legendary group – with a bassline over fast drums that really builds things up as keyboards trickle in, then set the whole thing on fire. "Oh Lord" has more great keyboards, an unusual mix of organ and Fender Rhodes – taken at a slow pace that unfolds nicely in a gentle sort of groove. 7-inch, Vinyl record

Uni, 1967. Near Mint- ... $4.99
The Foundations were the first of many successful British groups to break the American charts – and the first LP has the racially mixed group grooving like the best US soul acts from the same time. The set kicks off with the band's first big single – "Baby, Now That I've Found You", a huge radio hit on both sides of the Atlantic. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Uni sleeve with minimal wear. Vinyl has a tiny drill hole. Labels have small stickers.)

Thelonious MonkNutty (parts 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
Gearbox, 1963. New Copy (pic cover)... $6.99 11.98 About April 15, 2024 (delayed)
A never-issued performance of this classic tune from the Thelonious Monk songbook – recorded for Danish Radio in 1963, and played by the legendary quartet that featured Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, John Ore on bass, and Frankie Dunlop on drums! The quality is right up there with some of the live material that Columbia has unearthed in recent decades – and Rouse takes a great solo that's worth the price of the single alone! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ 100 Proof Aged In SoulSomebody's Been Sleeping/I've Come To Save You ... 7-inch
Hot Wax, 1969. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
"Somebody's Been Sleeping" is a stone cold 70's soul classic! It starts with a nice high-pitched choppy bit, then rolls into a groove that has a great AM radio soul sound. Nice catchy hook, too! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Hot Wax sleeve.)

Sun RaHello Mr Schimmel/Interview ... 7-inch
Gearbox (UK), 1990. New Copy (pic cover)... $6.99 13.99 About April 15, 2024 (delayed)
Never-issued late work from the mighty Sun Ra – a single that features an extended solo piano piece on "Hello Mr Schimmel" – a track that's a really great reminder of how much we love Ra in this format! For anyone who's ever thought of Ra as a trickster, or as an avant musician with no understanding of jazz – we present this wonderful track – a fantastic bit of piano work that links the musician back to the generations of Art Tatum and Erroll Garner, while also demonstrating the kind of personal ideas that always made his own recordings so great. The performance was done for the UK's Jazz FM radio in 1990 – and the flipside features a 12 minute interview with the show's host, Jez Nelson. (Jazz, Funky 45's) 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Pharoah SandersHarvest Time/Love Will Find A Way (2024 Record Store Day Release) ... 7-inch
India Navigation/Luaka Bop, 1977. New Copy (pic cover)... Just Sold Out!
A totally great slice of 70s work from Pharoah Sanders – a rare Japanese single that offers radio edits of two tracks from his sublime project for India Navigation! "Harvest Time" is wonderful – this hypnotic bassline, watery light guitar lines, and a raspy, soulful tenor solo from Sanders that's completely fantastic! "Love Will Find A Way" has this romping conga and bassline dancing together – building with modal energy wrapped around a guitar line that snakes in the background – while these really soulful vocals make the tune sparkle before Pharoah comes in for a solo! 7-inch, Vinyl record
