✨✧ Richard ThompsonRichard Thompson – Guitar/Vocal – A Collection Of Unreleased & Rare Material 1967 to 1976 (180 gram pressing – with bonus download) ... LP
Island, Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A great overview of the early years of Richard Thompson – a set that brings together some rare material and classics, all at a level that really shows the multi-faceted genius he had right from the start! In later years, Thompson continued to be known as a skillful singer/songwriter – but here, he's almost as much a guitar hero as he is a vocalist – a sharp-edged talent, no matter what the setting! Highlights include unissued live takes on "Dark End Of The Street", "The Cavalry Cross", "Night Comes In", and "Sweet Little Rock & Roller" – and other titles feature solo work, duets with Linda Thompson, and even a few with Fairport Convention – titles that include "Mr Lacey", "Ballad Of Easy Rider", "Poor Will & The Jolly Hangman", "Flee As A Bird", "A Heart Needs A Home", "It'll Be Me", and "The Pitfall/The Excursion". ✨✧ Willie NelsonShotgun Willie (50th Anniversary – with bonus LP) (2023 Black Friday Release) ... LP
Atlantic, 1973. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of two unique albums from Willie Nelson – recorded during a brief time when Atlantic Records was dabbling in country, and called on Willie and gave him the freedom to work in a way he wasn't able to do while at RCA! This material's almost a lost chapter in Willie's career – sandwiched between his long runs at RCA and Columbia, and representing a moment when Nelson was keenly in touch with all the new energy on the Austin scene – using it to infuse his already great songwriting with bolder energy in the vocals and instrumentation, and a more badass approach overall! Titles here include the classics "Whiskey River" and "Shotgun Willie" – plus "Slow Down Old World", "Devil In A Sleepin Bag", "You Look Like The Devil", "Bubbles In My Beer", "She's Not For You", "So Much To Do", and "Local Memory". This version features a bonus LP of all sorts of rare tracks recorded during the same sessions – titles that include "Both Ends Of The Candle", "Under The Double Eagle", "I Gotta Have Something I Ain't Got", "I'm So Ashamed", "I Drank All Of Our Precious Love Away", "Save Your Tears", and two takes of "My Cricket & Me", plus alternates of titles on the album. ✨✧ Hank ThompsonSix Pack To Go ... LP
Capitol, 1966. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great big barrel of beer drinkin' honky tonk classics from Hank Thompson – one of the flagship honky tonk albums of the 60s! This is Texas swing-modeled, no BS honky tonk – no silly string arrangements or Jordanaires backing vocals in the mix. It's the antidote for all that countrypolitan stuff that was the main claptrap of the time! The great Merle Travis is on guitar for most of the record, too. Essential! Tracks include "Six Pack To Go", "Honky Tonk Town", "Hangover Heart", "Drunkard's Blues", "Bubbles In My Beer", "The Wild Side Of Life", "Warm Red Wine" and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Duophonic stereo pressing. Cover has a split bottom seam, minimal wear.)

✨✧ Merle HaggardTribute to the Best Damn Fiddle Player in the World ... LP
Capitol, Early 70s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A hell of a record from the great Merle Haggard – partly a tribute to the western swing pioneer Bob Wills, but also a fantastic demonstration of all the growth that Merle had undergone in such a short time! The songs are all Bob Wills classics, and they're interpreted here by a group that also features members of Bob's original Texas Playboys lineup – including Johnny Gimble on fiddle and Billie Tiny Moore on mandolin – but the real revelation is the way that Merle can not only give complete credit to the way that Bob Wills influenced his music, but also step into the role of a leader with the same sort of strength as Bob – yet in a completely different way. Hag's vocals are different than other Capitol Records of the time – able to capture all the jazzy inflections that Tommy Duncan had when singing with the Texas Playboys – and the style seems to just be another feather in Merle's mighty cap at the time. Titles include "Right Or Wrong", "Brown Skinned Gal", "Misery", "Roly Poly", "Old Fashioned Love", and "Take Me Back To Tulsa". LP, Vinyl record album
