✨✧ Buck OwensChristmas With Buck Owens & His Buckaroos (red vinyl pressing) ... LP
Capitol/Sundazed, 1967. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Buck's first Christmas album – and a prime batch of tracks that are right up there with the best of his regular records from the time! There's a strong strand of Bakersfield production running through the album – perfect for both the sadder tunes and the more upbeat ones – and the Buckaroos are in fine form, laying down some great backings that make this more than just a one-off throwoff album. There's plenty of well-written tunes on the record – and tracks include "Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy", "Blue Christmas Lights", "Christmas Time's A Comin", "Here Comes Santa Claus Again", and "All I Want for Christmas Is You". (Holiday Music, Folk/Country) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Dan Hicks & The Hot LicksStriking It Rich ... CD
MCA, 1971. Used ... Out Of Stock
The great Dan Hicks at the height of his powers – working in a sublime acoustic mode that weaves together strands of gypsy swing, American roots, harmony vocals, and plenty more too – all in a mode that's lean and timeless, and which was one of the hipper new sounds on the west coast scene of his generation! Dan works with great support from vocalists Maryann Price and Naomi Ruth Eisenberg – alongside instrumentation that includes guitar, bass, violin, mandolin, and plenty of percussion – all wrapped up with a sublime sound that has all the elements resonating together wonderfully! Titles include a great remake of his earlier gem "I Scare Myself" – plus "You Got To Believe", "O'Reilly At The Bar", "Moody Richard", "The Laughing Song", "Canned Music", "Skippy's Farewell", "Fujiyama", "Woe The Luck", and "I'm An Old Cowhand". (Rock, Folk/Country) CD

✨✧ VariousSing It High Sing It Low – Tumbleweed Records 1971 to 1973 ... CD
Tumbleweed/Light In The Attic, Early 1970s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Really special sounds from a short-lived label – Tumbleweed Records, a company that was conceived in LA, and born in early 70s Denver – perfectly suited to focus on the hipper strands of singer/songwriter material of the time! The vibe here is a bit like the best work on the early Asylum Records, with maybe more of the diversity of Blue Thumb – and, like both of those special imprints, there's an above-the-usual level of quality going on here – great songwriting, understated production, and artists who really feel free to do their thing in the best way possible! Many of the tracks have kind of a homespun vibe, but top-shelf presentation – tight, but never slick – and the occasional twang really brings the right sort of humanity from time to time. Titles include "Turn Of The Century" and "Abyss" by Robb Kunkel, "Colorado" and "Hick" by Danny Holien, "Rosewood Bitters" by Michael Stanley, "Sweet As Spring" and "Do On My Feet" by Dewey Terry, "Late Letter" by Pete McCabe, "Plain Talk" by Arthur Gee, and "Sunday Sherry" by Arthur Gee Whizz Band. (Rock, Folk/Country) CD

✨✧ Davy GrahamLarge As Life & Twice As Natural ... CD
London/East Central One (UK), 1968. Used ... Out Of Stock
Mindblowing work from an artist we totally totally love – a really unique British singer and guitarist, and one who can effortlessly channel together so many different strands of music, and make them all come together like nobody else at all! Davy Graham draws here from Indian music, American blues, and even some up and coming styles in the folk underground – but the sound here is completely his own, and has a vibe that's as unique, and groundbreaking as some of the better-known British acoustic talents of his generation! Tremendous work throughout – on titles that include "Sunshine Raga", "Both Sides Now", "Electric Chair", "Blue Raga", "Beautiful City", "Tristano", "Bad Boy Blues", and "Bruton Town". CD
