A standout performance from organist Marcel Dupre – one of the leading soloists of the Mercury Living Presence series, heard here in the company of Paul Paray and the Detroit Symphony! The performance of "Symphony No 3 In C Minor (op 78)" by Saint-Saens is wonderfully vivid – organ used to new heights of color, without some of the darker, moodier qualities from earlier compositional generations – all of which is brought out even more strongly by the excellent recording.
