✨✧ Chico Buarque & Maria BethaniaChico Buarque & Maria Bethania Ao Vivo ... LP
Philips (Brazil), 1975. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A fantastic illustration of the live music tradition on Brazil – one that really arose on records during the 60s, and blossomed strongly on 70s records like this – which feel almost more like an event than a recorded document! The concert features a magnificent meeting of Chico Buarque and Maria Bethania – both very strong talents on their own, balanced in this really great way amidst larger backings from Maestro Gaya – duetting on tunes that really turn into something special from their performance – never a challenge of egos, but instead a wonderful folding of strong ideals. Terra Trio provide the rhythms – and most numbers are Buarque originals – with titles that include "Flor Da Idade", "Vai Levando", "Bem Querer", "Noite Dos Mascarados", "Tanto Mar", "Gota D'Agua", "Com Acucar E Com Afeto", and "Sem Fantasia". LP, Vinyl record album

Billy BondBilly Bond Y La Pesada – Vol 1 & 2 ... CD
Cloud Forest (New Zealand), 1970/1971. New Copy ... $4.99 14.99
Heady and heavy work from Billy Bond and La Pesada Del Rock & Roll – a guitar heavy group from Argentina, and one with plenty of blues rock overtones! The guitars are definitely turned up to 11 here – jamming with an intensity to match some of the best hard rock sides from Peru reissued by the Lazarus label in recent years – and like those sets, there's a sound here that's an intensification of earlier beat group modes – taken into much harder territory for the 70s. The production is great – earthy, trippy, and a little bit spooky – and the album's got an oddly unsettling feel, one that's familiar at first, but then increasingly estranged as the record moves on. Quite compelling, and with 16 tracks that include "Dueno De Tu Piel", "El Parque", "Buen Dia Senor Presidente", "Divertido Reventado", "Salgan Al Sol", "La Maquina", "Voy A Ver Un Amigo", "Para Que Nos Sirven", and "La Marcha De San Lorenzo". Dorival Caymmi & Ary BarrosoAry – Caymmi (aka Um Interpreta O Outro) ... LP
Evento/Odeon (Brazil), 1958. Near Mint- ... $24.99
Late 50s work from these two important Brazilian songwriters – served up here in a cool 70s package! The tracks have a nicely produced quality that makes them some of the most preferred recordings by the two artists – with strong arrangements that set off their voices nicely. There's no arranger listed that we can find, but the whole thing has a nice warm jazzy feel. Titles include "La Vem A Bahiana", "Inquietacao", "Maracangalha", "Risque", and "Dora". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mid 70s issue in the embossed cover. Includes the insert. Cover has light wear and is yellowed from age.)

✨✧ Egberto GismontiNo Caipira ... LP
Odeon/EMI (Brazil), 1978. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of Egberto Gismonti's fantastic records from the seventies, and is waaaay better than anything he did for an American label. It's a wild mix of strident jazz and odd "experimental" moments, with a lot of joy and a lot of wonderful emotions running through all the tracks. The album's filled with baroque arrangements, cool keyboards, and lots of Gismonti's haunting compositions! Titles include "Frevo", "Cancao Da Espera", "Selva Amazonica", "Saudacoes", and "Maracatu". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing. Includes the textured inner sleeve. Cover has light ringwear, sticker spot, and is lightly bent at the edges.)
