✨✧ Joao DonatoNew Sound of Brazil – The Piano Of Joao Donato ... CD
RCA/BMG (Brazil), 1965. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Darkly brilliant – and one of Joao Donato's most fantastic records! The set was recorded during Joao's time in America in the mid 60s – cut in New York with lofty backings by Claus Ogerman, in a pillowy soft mode that fits perfectly with Joao's light bossa piano lines, and which has all the hints of sadness and moodiness that often creep into his playing. The complicated approach of the album far surpasses some of Joao's work from Brazil at the same time – and the album's one of the best of its generation, a sublime mix of all elements that still sounds as fresh today as it did in 1965! Titles include "Amazonas", "Glass Beads", "Sugarcane Breeze", "Vento Do Canavail", "It Didn't End", and "O Barquinho". CD

✨✧ Various4 Hero Present Brazilika – An Eclectic Brazilian Mix From Marc Mac ... CD
Far Out (UK), 2006. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A mighty dip into the Far Out catalog – served up by Marc Mac of 4 Hero! Mac's done plenty of work for Far Out over the years – providing the label with some of its hippest remixes on 12" singles – so he's no stranger to the great range of Brazilian funk, soul, and bossa coming out from Far Out – and really pulls together an amazing batch of tunes for this tasty little set, including a large number of remixes and singles that are long out of print! Although presented as a mix, most tracks here are relatively discreet – not muddled up too much by Marc, just presented in their entirety, with a soaring groove that builds a bridge between the hippest side of London and the deepest grooves of Rio! Titles include "Bicho Homem" by Milton Nascimento, "Maracatueira (Incognito rmx – Marc Mac re-edit)" by Sabrina Malheiros, "Morning" by Azymuth, "Black Magic Power Ride (Roc Hunter edit)" by Offworld, "Parabens (Misa Negra rmx)" by Marcos Valle, "Todos Os Santos" by Joyce, "Luizao (Daz-I-Kue re-edit)" by Antonio Adolfo & Brazuka, "The Samba (4 Hero's Natures Plan rmx)" by Grupo Batuque/4 Hero, and "Na Batida Do Agogo (Osunlade rmx)" by Grupo Batuque.
