FarmyardBack To Fronting ... LP
Polydor/Wah Wah (Spain), 1972. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $32.99
The second and final album from New Zealand's Farmyard – a record that continues some of the jazzy spirit of their debut, but which also goes into territory that's a bit more rough and raw too! It's almost as if the group were getting their wind a bit more – and finding a way to make a statement that was bolder than before, but still had a quality to set them apart from the rest – plenty of flute and tenor from Andrew Stevens, but mixed with more electric guitar and bass – on a set of tunes that have hard rock appeal, but also plenty of sharp proggy changes! Titles include "Me The Dog Ma & Dear Ol Dad", "All In Your Mind", "Looking For A Place", "Feeling Pretty Good", "Fantasia/New Road", and "Too Much Wrong". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition of 500!)

Polydor/Wah Wah (Spain), 1971. New Copy (reissue)... $32.99
An obscure jazzy group from the New Zealand scene of the early 70s – definitely a rock act at the core, but one who make wonderful use of flute and tenor from Andrew Stevens, who really helps give the record a special sound of its own! There's also some vibes, Indian percussion, and other unique instrumentation in the set – mixed with guitars that are as acoustic as they are electric, giving the whole thing a quality that's almost in the folk funk side of the universe – dreamy one minute, groovy the next, and the kind of record that's well worth seeking out as a unique rarity! Titles include "Da Woiks", "I Sit Alone", "Which Way Confusion", "Through My Window", "Learning Bout Living", and "Those Days Are Gone". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited edition of 500 – in a silkscreaned plastic shopping bag, just like the original!)

✨✧ RuralsFarmyard Flavours ... CD
Viva (UK), 2001. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the earliest efforts ever from The Rurals – but an album that already has them finding their soulful groove! The album's a tribute to a farm in the British countryside – birthplace of one of the group's members, and also the group themselves – but the sound here is decidedly urban, and a very soulful approach to club, served up in a simple blend of guitar, keyboards, and percussion! The sound here is a bit more instrumental than on some of the later Rurals work – but the record still has a bit of vocals from Marie Tweek, plus some nice sax lines from Brit jazzer Charlie Hearnshaw – and as always, the group bring a little "something more" to the session – a quality that moves the work away from the easier modes of so many of their contemporaries. Titles include "So Alive", "Latin Canteen", "Fallin", "Dub Eye", "River", "Code", and "Realize". CD
