✨✧ BlondieEat To The Beat ... LP
Chrysalis, 1979. Very Good- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Blondie had a lot to live up to after Parallel Lines, but they pulled it off here – Eat To The Beat is another classic! Downtown cool, a strong sense of pop history and tight production by Mike Chapman make for a really distinct sound on this one. Standouts include the excellent opener "Dreaming" (one of the finest Harry/Stein songs ever, if you ask us), the punky title track, "Union City Blue" and "Accidents Never Happen", and while Blondie albums are by nature hit-and-miss given the fearless mish-mash of styles they always brought in, the whole thing is pretty great! Other tracks include "Shayla", "Die Young Stay Pretty" and "Living In The Real World". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has some surface wear.)

BlondieParallel Lines ... LP
Chrysalis, 1978. Very Good- ... Just Sold Out!
The breakthrough album by Blondie! Parallel Lines is their third album overall, and having been released only 7 months after their second, you know they were hungry to break big – and they do it here with unbeatable cool. For as tight and bright as as the sound is, a trademark of producer Mike Chapman, there's still something of the raucous downtown energy here – and also some pretty great stylistic strides, such as the disco-aware smash "Heart Of Glass". Includes the equally classic "One Way Or Another" plus "Hanging On The Telephone", "Just Go Away", "I Know But I Don't Know" "Will Anything Happen", "Picture This", "11:59 and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has some wear, aging, and light stains.)

Debbie HarryKookoo ... LP
Chrysalis, 1981. Near Mint- ... $6.99
A nice change in sound for Debbie Harry – thanks to Chic production from Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards – who really help the solo singer find a groove that's quite different than her work in Blondie! The style's a mixture of the funky club that Chic did so well, with elements that lean a bit more towards an early 80s rockish dancefloor – almost with a vibe that echoes some of the UK imports trickling over to these shores at the time, but with a definite New York vibe underneath! The setting gives Harry's vocals a great way to hit a more playful nature – that sound that was creeping in a bit in Blondie, but which some folks thought was wrong for the group – and Chris Stein is still on hand to bring in some street-sensitive riffing guitar. Titles include "Backfired", "Military Rap", "Oasis", "Surrender", "Chrome", "Jump Jump", and "The Jam Was Moving". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has a cut corner.)

✨✧ Jethro TullBenefit ... LP
Chrysalis/Reprise, 1970. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
An early gem from Jethro Tull – and a set that has the group really reaching forth with some of their more complicated, jazz-based musical impulses – while still holding onto some of the rawer power of the early days too! The album's lesser-known than some of the group's earlier hits – which may well make it even fresher all these many years later – a really stunning set of sounds that showcases the newly lyrical sensibility of Ian Anderson – both vocally and on flute – as well as the searing guitar of Martin Barre, which was really becoming a core element of the group at this point. Titles include "For Michael Collins Jefferey & Me", "Inside", "Play In Time", "Sossity You're A Woman", "With You There To Help Me", and "Nothing To Say". LP, Vinyl record album
(Late 70s blue label Chrysalis pressing.)

Nat Turner RebellionLaugh To Keep From Crying ... LP
Philly Groove/Chrysalis, 1969. New Copy ... $24.99 25.98
The never-issued full length album from Philly funk combo Nat Turner Rebellion – a group led by Joseph Jefferson, who'd later write great songs for others – but who here is standing strong at the head of a very righteous group! Nat Turner Rebellion issued a few singles on the Philly Groove label, but never got the chance to give the world it's full length message – and this set was rescued from lost tapes at the Sigma Sound Studios by some students at Drexel University – a great lost legacy in sound, with a funky power and positive message that's maybe more important now than ever before! These guys often have the sock-soul punch of Sir Joe Quarterman & Free Soul – and titles include "Tribute To A Slave", "Love Peace & Understanding, "Fruit Of The Land", "Plastic People", "Getting Higher Together", and "Laugh To Keep From Crying". ✨✧ Procol HarumGrand Hotel (180 gram white vinyl pressing) (2021 Record Store Day Release) ... LP
Chrysalis/Esoteric (UK), 1973. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Procol Harum check into the Grand Hotel – and check out with one of their greatest albums ever! The set's got that majestic sound that was the group's strongest point – a strange mix of the very personal vocals of Gary Brooker and the expansive blend of piano, organ, and guitar that the group often sent soaring to the skies – augmented here with some perfect use of strings and chorus – never too heavy, but all fused perfectly with the core energy of the sextet! In fact, it's that sense of compression – of folding everything together so well – that really makes the group so great, and such an important precursor for so many acts that were beginning to blossom in the UK scene, using a similar approach in different ways. Yet it's that Gary Brooker/Keith Reid sense of songwriting that still sets these guys apart from anyone else – as you'll hear on titles that include "Grand Hotel", "Tojours L'Amour", "TV Caesar", "A Souvenir Of London", "Robert's Box", "Fires", "For Liquorice John", and "A Rum Tale". The great Suzi Quatro's definitely live and kicking here – burning things up onstage in Japan – where the hard rock queen was maybe even more popular than in America during the 70s! Titles include "Can The Can", "What's It Like To Be Loved", "Roxy Roller", "Devil Gate Drive", "Half As Much As Me", "Cat Size", "Make Me Smile", "The Wild One", "Tear Me Apart", "American Lady", and "Glycerine Queen". ✨✧ RicoJama Rico (180 gram pressing) ... LP
2 Tone/Chrysalis (UK), 1982. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
An early 80s gem from Rico – one of a few records he did for the 2 Tone label, but in a voice that's every bit as strong as his work in the 70s! 2 Tone was mostly known for its crossover ska releases – albums by The Selecter or Specials – but the label let Rico keep on moving in that instrumental groove from his Jamaican roots – recording with top-shelf players who include Ansell Collins on organ and Chinna Smith on guitar – but also getting a bit of 2 Tone help from Dick Cuthell on flugelhorn and Jerry Dammers on piano and organ. The tunes all have a great laidback vibe – more in a rocksteady instrumental mode than an upbeat ska one – and Titles include "Do The Reload", "Easter Island", "Some Day", "Love and Justice", "Java", "Destroy Them", and "Distant Drums". LP, Vinyl record album
(40th Anniversary Edition pressing!)

✨✧ RicoThat Man Is Forward (180 gram pressing) ... LP
2 Tone/Chrysalis (UK), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A classic album from Rico Rodriguez – one of the few cuts who can handle a trombone and make it seem like a totally badass instrument! Yet that's what Rico did, and did beautifully on a string of late 70s and early 80s albums that saw him rising up from early Kingston fame to a whole new scene over in London – which he hits very well here, thanks to some nice 2 Tone Record stylings on the production! Yet the core of the album is pre Jamaica – as Rico blows with rhythms from Sly & Robby, plus organ from Ansell Collins, guitar from Mikey Chung and Chinna Smith, and piano from Winston Wright – on instrumental smokers that include "Stay Out Late", "Red Top", "Ganja", "Easy Snappin", "Fiesta", "Chang Kai Shek", and "That Man Is Forward". SelecterToo Much Pressure (180 gram half-speed master pressing – with bonus 7" single) ... LP
2 Tone/Chrysalis (UK), 1980. New Copy (reissue)... $26.99 27.98
One of the greatest groups of the legendary 2 Tone records scene at the start of the 80s – and a group that's maybe got an even harder edge than their more familiar labelmates, The Specials! The groove here is revival ska, but with a lean, jagged quality that's very different than so many of the softer groups that sprang up in later years – definitely tied more to the sound of the late 70s punk years, overall – thanks in part to the urgency of the lead vocals of Pauline Black, who really seems to dominate the lyrics over the group's other singer, Arthur Hendrickson. Instrumentation is nice and spare – which keeps the sound sharp – and titles include "Missing Words", "My Collie (Not A Dog)", "Three Minute Hero", "Too Much Pressure", "Murder", "Out On The Streets" and "James Bond". LP, Vinyl record album
(40th Anniversary Edition on half-speed mastered 180 gram vinyl and with a bonus 7" single – with the cuts "On My Radio" and "Too Much Pressure (version)".)
