✨✧ Marlene DietrichMarlene Dietrich With The Burt Bacharach Orchestra ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), Early 60s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Rare chapters in the careers of both Marlena Dietrich and Burt Bacharach – late American recordings for the lady, and some of the earliest work with a female star for Burt! The style here is a nice meeting of two eras – and although Bacharach's backings aren't as simple and subtle as they'd be a decade or so later, there's still a nice sense of economy going on here – a sound that respects Dietrich's older roots, but also updates her sound nicely for a postwar audience. Marlena's vocals are wonderful – if anything, made even better with age – and the CD brings together the tracks from the pair's album for Columbia, plus some other sides issued over the years by EMI and Sanctuary. CD features 20 tracks in all, plus notes in German and English – and titles include "I Wish You Love", "You're The Cream In My Coffee", "Falling In Love Again", "One For My Baby", "The Laziest Gal In Town", "Go Way From My Window", "Marie Marie", "Dejeuner Du Matin", and "Look Me Over Closely". ✨✧ VariousFunky Frauleins – Female Beat, Groove, Disco, & Funk In Germany 1968 to 1978 ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), Late 60s/1970s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Funky frauleins galore – a host of groovy German singers, plus a few American expats, all working in a mad range of deeply-grooving styles! Music here runs the gamut from mod late 60s swingers to German soul of the 70s – and overall, most of the cuts in the package are completely new to our ears –a really fresh selection of music that lies somewhere between In-Kraut and Disco Deutschland territory – which makes this collection every bit as revolutionary, and essential, as those gems from a few years back! The package features complete notes in English – which is a great help to navigate some of the unfamiliar artists – and titles include "Berlin" by Heidi Bruhl, "Sagen Sie Frau Zimmermann" by Topsy Kuppers, "Die Grune Witwe" by Su Kramer, "Der Wassermann" by Renate Kern, "Special Agent" by Jane Morel, "Kleiner Mann" by Sandra Hass, "Sunburst" by Roberta Kelly, "Das Zahlenspiel" by Olivia Molina, "Ich Wart Auf Die Nacht" by Hildegard Knef, "Goldene Insel" by Shirley Thompson, and "Irre Gut" by Lotte Und Leherb.
