VariousDisco Giants Volume 13 – 20 Full Length Disco Classics Of The 80s ... CD
Vinyl Masterpiece (Netherlands), Early 80s. New Copy 2CD ... $18.99
More soul than disco overall – but with more than enough groove to get heavy play on an 80s-styled dancefloor! Once again this great series brings back a host of heavy cuts from back in the days – post-disco numbers from those key early 80s years when soul started to cross over big again – thanks to catchy grooves like these! Titles include "Joy" by Teddy Pendergrass, "Love's Dance (12" version)" by Klique, "Reach Out" by George Duke, "Step By Step (ext rmx)" by Jeff Lorber with Audrey Wheeler, "What Does It Take (ext mix)" by Kenny G, "Some Kind Of Lover (12" ext)" by Jody Watley, "Sixty Thrills A Minute" by Mystic Merlin, "Break Up" by High Fashion, "Hangin On A String" by Loose Ends, "If You Love Me Just A Little (12" version)" by La La, "Love The One" by Melba Moore & Kashif, "Freak A Zoid" by Midnight Star, "Seventh Heaven (Larry Levan rmx)" by Gwen Guthrie, "State Of Attraction (12" version)" by Rhonda Clark, "Show Me Where You're Coming From" by Carrie Lucas, "Too Many Games" by Maze, "Love Town" by Booker Newberry III, "You'll Be Mine (12" version)" by Instant Funk, and "Serious" by Serious Intention. VariousBrazilian Guitar Fuzz Bananas – Tropicalista Psychedelic Masterpieces 1967 to 1976 ... LP
World Psychedelic Classics/Tropicalia In Furs, Late 60s/1970s. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... $24.99
A fuzzed out treasure trove of rare Brazilian psychedelia – wild stuff that's in many ways akin to the freewheeling sounds of the Tropicalia movement, but not necessarily taking on the cultural and political weight of that movement – and more about the boundless spirit of psychedelia and funk rock around the globe! The sounds are buzzing and indeed fuzzy throughout, ranging from raw and ramshackle guitar jams to more organ and drum driven funky, and it's really incredible stuff all around. We've been purveyors of hard to find Brazilian music for many many years, and this set – compiled by Joel Stones who also provides the richly detailed – brings to light some numbers we've never heard! 16 tracks in all: "Tema De Banana", "Era Uma Nota De" Loyce E Os Gnomes, "I Wanna Be Your Man" by Youngsters, "Ourico" by Serguei, "Lindo Sonho Delirante" by Fabio, "Cinturao De Fog" by Marisa Rossi, 'Som Imaginario De Jimmi Hendrix" by The Pops, "The Lantern" by Mac Rybell and more. The vinyl version comes with a thick booklet of notes, in English and Portuguese. LP, Vinyl record album

VariousMasterpieces Of Modern Soul (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Kent (UK), 1970s. New Copy ... $11.99
Ultra-hip soul from the 70s – a brilliant collection of underground tunes that represents some of the best of the decade's indie scene! The title says "modern", but the groove here is also pretty darn deep – as many of the tracks on the set have nice touches of southern soul, despite the smoother 70s production overall. Vocals are extremely heartfelt, and most tracks are in a mellow or midtempo pace – making for a really wonderful batch of tunes that moves away from the more uptempo and clubby sounds you might hear on other modern soul compilations. This special LP pressing brings together tracks from the CD series – a number of which were never issued on vinyl, even back in the day – and two unreleased tracks appear here for the first time ever! Titles include "Gotta Be Loved (part 2)" by Herman Davis, "Never Felt This Way Before" by The New Experience, "Go Away" by The Hestitations, "Momma Had A Baby" by Street People, "Do You Really Love Me" by Darondo, "I Don't Play Games" by Nightchill, "Just A Little Ugly" by Gail Anderson, "It's The Same Old Story" by Act 1, "Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right" by The Mayberry Movement, "Shake Off That Dream" by Eddie Billups & The CCCs, and "If There Were No You" by The Natural Resources.
