Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of InventionOne Size Fits All ... LP
DiscReet, 1975. Near Mint- Gatefold ... $19.99 23.99
Frank Zappa's got some fantastic fusion touches on this sweet little set from the 70s – thanks to keyboards and a bit of vocals from George Duke, heavy drums from Chester Thompson, and even some brief help from Johnny Guitar Watson! The set's still got a very Zappa-esque feel, but it's clear he's also letting Duke stretch his wings a bit too as there's parts of the record that almost echo the style of some of George's more far-out recordings for MPS. The balance is great – and one that makes the album a lot more soulful at points than we're used to hearing from Zappa. Titles include "Florentine Pogen", "Can't Afford No Shoes", "Inca Roads", "Po-Jama People", "Evelyn A Modified Dog", and "San Ber'Dino". LP, Vinyl record album
(180 gram 2015 reissue in great shape.)

✨✧ Amon DuulAmon Duul (aka Psychedelic Underground) ... LP
Bell/Prophesy, Early 70s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Heady work from the German scene of the late 60s – one of the key albums by the first incarnation of Amon Duul, who grew out of the underground commune of the same name! The set's got a loose, almost improvised feel – with some long tracks that definitely make you feel like you're dropping in on the band as they jam together in the studio, mixed with shorter numbers that still somehow manage to convey the same sort of energy, but in a smaller space! Production is nice and open – with some of that murky current of darkness that would come to reign in the Krautrock scene a few years later. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Paul Butterfield Blues BandPaul Butterfield Blues Band ... LP
Elektra, 1965. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An archetypal album from the legendary Paul Butterfield – and a set that would shape the sound of countless blues rock records to come! Despite what you might think of the genre or its many later incarnations, there's a raw power here that's really amazing – the young Butterfield and his Chicago comperes, hanging out at clubs on the south side, drinking in the relatively new electric sound of the city, and turning out a groove that's a lot more hard-edged than some of the overseas imitators at the time! Paul's pretty darn great on vocals and harmonica – but the group has some even more powerful sounds in the twin guitar talents of Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop – the former on slide, the latter on rhythm – along with Jerome Arnold on bass, Sam Lay on drums, and Mark Naftalin on some Hammond too. Titles include "Blues With A Feeling", "Born In Chicago", "Shake Your Money Maker", "Mystery Train", "Screamin", "Last Night", and "Look Over Yonders Wall". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono gold "big E" label pressing. Cover has light wear and aging.)

John Lennon & Yoko Ono with The Plastic Ono BandLive Peace In Toronto ... LP
Apple, 1969. Near Mint- ... $14.99
The earliest incarnation of the Plastic Ono band, and more or less a one off, with an all-star line up that included Eric Clapton and Klaus Voorman alongside Lennon and Ono. One side of the rootsy rock that was the old school Beatles stock in trade, and one side of Yoko Ono doing her thing on the mic. Titles include "Blue Suede Shoes", "Money", "Dizzy Miss Lizzy", "Yer Blues", "Cold Turkey", "Give Peace A Chance", "Don't Worry Kyoko" and "John, John". LP, Vinyl record album
(US Apple pressing. Cover has some ringwear, edge wear, and a 4-inch razor slice at the top seam on the spine side.)

✨✧ PaperheadChew ... LP
Trouble In Mind, 2017. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Classic level psych pop pastiche from The Paperhead – a young Nashville core trio (and just a little over a handful of studio collaborators) with an incredible ability to channel the coolest sounds of the late 60s-late 70s into a transcendently catchy sound of their own! We don't even know where to start in trying to describe the stylistic range – maybe we'd just start by saying the songs, one after another, are as solidly tuneful and accessible as their influences are far out and diverse – incredibly so on both front! They've got strains of both obscure and uberclassic psychedelia from early/Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, to late 60s psychedelic soul, to Byrds-y psych country, and well beyond. Arrangements-wise the songs all have tight core groove, and additional horns and strings when duty calls. Another proud Dusty Groove salute to Chicago's Trouble In Mind label for discovering and releasing such great stuff! Includes "The True Poet", "Pig", "Love You To Death", "Fairy Tales", "Porter's Fiddle", "Reincarnated", "Over And Over", "Little Lou", "Duly Noted", "Dama De Lavanda" and "Chew". ✨✧ SunstrokeNothing's Wrong In Paradise ... LP
Copperhead (France), 1985. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A record that really delivers the paradise promised in its title – especially if you dig laidback, keyboard-heavy work with a very mellow vibe! The music is somewhere between some of the best Japanese minimal music of the time, and some of the warmer instrumental experiments from the UK and European scenes – especially that moment in the post-punk years when a few key artists decided that things could be tuneful at the level of some of the best cinematic recordings of the time – but freed from that territory as well, and done at a much more personal, organic level than "serious" music of the concert halls. The duo here work mostly on a range of keyboards, mixed with percussion and cello, all with beautiful results – on titles that include "Boat People", "Dance Of The Prophets", "Re-Incarnation", "Race To The Oasis", and "Nothing's Wrong In Paradise". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Vinegar JoeVinegar Joe ... LP
Atco, 1972. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The cover's a bit cartoony, but the group's got a nicely down to earth sound – a UK blend of roots rock and deeper blues currents – but served up in that 70s style that takes all the best elements way past their familiar incarnations! The group sports two singers – a young Robert Palmer and female vocalist Elkie Brooks – and although Palmer would soon emerge as a more pop-oriented artist, he's got plenty of soulful chops here – but maybe still only second to Elkie, who soars out with the sort of inspiration that must have touched Janis Joplin as well. Titles include "Circles", "Leg Up", "See The World", "Never Met A Dog", "Live A Little Get Somewhere", and "Avinu Malkenu". LP, Vinyl record album
