Anthony Braxton on sopranino, soprano and alto saxophone, Carl Testa on bass and bass clarinet, Taylor Ho Bynum on cornet, flugelhorn, and trumpbone, Mary Halvorson on guitar, Aaron Siegel on percussion and vibes, Jay Rozen on tuba, and Jessica Pavone on viola and violin.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Ex-library copy, but a nice one. Cover has minimal wear, there's a small sticker on the inside booklet, and hub labels on each disc.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Arista/Bluebird, 1976. Used
One of Braxton's first recordings of his work for larger ensembles, and a masterpiece that gives a good example of the kind of early ideas that have informed some of his recent work in the same style. Great work from one of the most compelling trombonists of the 50s! Jimmy Knepper is probably best known for his excellent work on some of Charles Mingus' best records – but this set from 1957 shows that Knepper was also an extremely capable (if under-recorded) leader in his own right! The ... CD

The group's an unusual one, but they've got some great components all the way through – including the presence of tenorist Sal Nistico – who really rounds out the record in a great way! But first, the leaders – pianist Larry Porter and alto saxophonist Allan Praskin – the ... CD

Joe Gordon

Lookin' Good!
Contemporary/OJC, 1961. Used
An incredible session of hardbop from early 60s LA – easily one of the hippest and hardest-hitting albums ever recorded for Contemporary Records! Joe Gordon passed away early in 1963, and this album's one of a rare few he made as a leader – but even if it was the only one, it might ... CD
