PC here refers to Paul Chambers – who's touted in the liner notes as if he was the leader of the set, although it's just a regular Red Garland trio set from the late 50s! Chambers had died the year before, so it made sense that the session was packaged as sort of a tribute to him for this 1970 release – especially because it includes the nice long groover "PC Blues". Art Taylor's on drums for most of the tracks, but Philly Joe Jones sits in on one tune – and Red Garland, of course, is magnificent on piano. Titles include "Ahmad's Blues", "Lost April", "Tweedle Dee Dee", and "Why Was I Born?". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
